Francis Ngannou has hinted at a future switch to boxing in order to get the salary he thinks he deserves. Heavyweight boxers Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder earned huge paydays after their fight last weekend.

In a recent edition of The MMA Hour, 'The Predator' claimed he'll leave MMA for boxing some day in the future due to the pay disparity between the two sports. When asked if he was unhappy with regards to Fury and Wilder earning more money than him, Ngannou said:

"Well, it [MMA] is more difficult [than boxing]. I feel I should not be needing to borrow money for my training camp. At some point, I'm gonna go after those money. I'm gonna go to that boxing for sure... I'm not challenging the system, I'm just saying my right."

Little does he know that unless you the headliner in the card you ain't getting paid shite. He ain't gonna get to the top in boxing at his age and barely competent boxing. Even in the MMA he has no sound boxing ability. Just that knockout power with MMA gloves.

As much as I love Dana White, he totally fricked his fighters when he took away their individual sponsorships. They used to pay for training camps and give these guys, even low-mid level fighters, the ability to not live fight to fight.

In saying that, if Ngannou is borrowing money between fights at his level, he's either severely mismanaged his money (quite possible) or he's getting raped financially by his camp (also quite possible).

Ngannou is not a young man (mid 30s I think), and a switch to boxing would definetly draw a tremendous gate and ppv if the fight was right, but Dana isnt going to let him be a total independent if he's still under a promotional contract with UFC, but he could still probably make $20-50 million off one fight.

Ngannou is also one of the few guys who could probably make it as a boxer, because that's all he really does anyway, but the dude better hit the roadwork way more, because his conditioning is and has been atrocious.

But, if he goes in there with a guy like Wilder, it will be one of the most anticipated boxing matches in a while, both guys are Dim Mak personified. If the hype machine is right, it would sell a lot of PPVs.

You have to fight to make money. Dude won the title and will now get ppv points but instead of taking a huge fight against derrick lewis he went to africa or some shite. Unless you are a huge draw like mcgregor you arent gonna make big money fighting once per year. You dont turn into a huge draw by turning down fights. Instead of taking that fight and getting a one dimensional(but dangerous) and very popular fighter that would have sold, he now gets to fight a super talented guy in gane that has no following. I think gane beats him tbh. Gane is gonna stay back and pick him apart. Not to mention the only way out of your contract and into better contracts or the ability to move on is to fight. At the rate he is going to be mid 40’s before he can leave the ufc.

You cant compare the ufc pay structure to boxing. Like dana white said, the ufc is ran like a business and they out money back into growing the sport worldwide. Boxing is a fire sale for the guys at the top of the card.

anybody can get their own sponsors, they just cant wear dicpics dot com on their gear. They have to wear official gear for ufc stuff. cant argue that.

Sounds to me like Ngannou needs to learn how to follow a budget.

This

A quick peek and it looks like he's made over $2mil int he past 2 seasons. I imagine there's a couple of endorsements in there as well to add to it.

He's already signed the contract to fight Cyril Gane in January, so this is basically a non story

I don't take any of that seriously. Just public negotiation tactics.
But as Dana has shown in the past, he doesn't cave in to that shite

That's really not a lot. After taxes, you are looking at what? $1.2M? Camps will cost him tens of thousands of dollars

What? That fight would last about 30 seconds. This dude can’t switch to boxing in his 30s and go toe to toe with the best Heavyweights in the world. They are way too skilled.

In every sport the athletes make about 50% of revenue, in the UFC its less than 20%

Who cares about other sports. The UFC is a great product. Whatever they are doing works. The majority of fighters that hustle and put on a show get paid really well.
