Yeah I hate him so much that I just called him the GOAT UFC entertainer! I'm pretty sure that someone being hyped up for their name and not their accomplishments is the definition of overrated.

(0) Title defenses
(0) Fights vs top fighters in their prime

Got his arse kicked by the 1 guy anywhere close to his level.

Connor's greatest UFC moment was beating Aldo. Holloway KO'd Aldo and then KO'd him again in a title defense, and then continued to fight Volk 3x, Topuria, etccc.

Connor McGregor would never ever in his career fight someone better than him (3) times.

The fact that so many people look up to this dude or view him so highly is an absolute joke.

Dude you’ve used this same tired argument anytime his name pops up in any MMA thread and you still refuse to acknowledge that Aldo was in his prime and the best fighter on the planet when he got slept in 8 seconds. Nobody cares about this hill you love to die on anymore.

I am really curious to see how this one goes. My brain tells me that Max is going to destroy him but there's also a dumb thought lingering of "What if Connor is old Connor?" He might surprise me but I doubt it. If he's close to old Connor it should be a fun fight. I'm pretty excited about it.

I like the Pimblett v St. Denis matchup but St. Denis has never really impressed me. The win vs Ruffy looking back on it was pretty impressive but jumping up in the rankings because of wins vs Dariush and Hooker don't really excite me.

Think the Kavanagh v Royval fight might be a good one.

I don’t expect Conor to win. He focuses to much on just traditional boxing instead of his old school muai Thai style when he was sleeping people that made him quicker and more well rounded. He’s been like this since the poirer fights and it makes him more flat footed and 1 dimensional. My one hope is it’s a big jump for Max. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but idk if he’s ever fought at welter. Conor at the very least should still have his power and maybe max’s chin has weakened since the Ilia KO

Same. I’m shocked he’s favored. His a KO artist and if Justin couldn’t KO paddy I don’t think Denis will. I expect paddy to get him to the ground and grind him out

No one can really argue against it either. There's people that actually think Connor McGregor has had a better UFC career than Max Holloway.

This is the one I’m having the most trouble with. Royval looked great in his loss against Van and gave him probably the best fight of his youn career but he’s getting up there. Lone’r is a young up and comer but he hasn’t really fought anybody yet. Leaning Royval for now

He's definitely the most overrated fighter in UFC history

He's like the Kardashians of UFC

He gets hyped because of outside the ring stuff, then gets his leg broke inside the ring by a Cajun

I'm not a McGregor fan boy by any means and I agree 100% he's overrated. But just playing Devils advocate here...

I think that's a bit unfair. Aldo was for sure in his prime and undefeated in the UFC at that point. Probably could argue Alvarez was in his prime. Poirier was in his prime. Nurmagomedov certainly was. Unless you are talking him not beating someone in their prime, then that narrows it down.

Didn't he have the belt when he beat Aldo and Alvarez? Or was that seperate weight classes?

When he beat Aldo he was the interim featherweight champ and the victory unified the titles. When he beat Alvarez, he was the featherweight champ and then became the champ champ winning the lightweight championship.

Really the only 2 fighters in their actual prime that McGregor fought. And he went 1-3. Hahahaha.

50-4 before McGregor and 15-12 after McGregor... Were they really in their prime? Seems like they were on the wrong end of their careers.

Conor caught them at the perfect time where they had big resumes coming into the fights but were pretty bad after the fact. He then avoided anyone else with a pulse that would hurt his legacy.

Oh and then he got his shite kicked in and disappeared like a little bitch.

His "legacy" is far more hyped than any real comparable accolades.

McGregor was 19-2 before Aldo, 3-4 after.
McGregor was 21-3 before Alvarez, 1-3 after.
His age wasn't "old" but just using the records one can make the argument that he was on the wrong end of his career after Alvarez.

Deeper than that he simply chased glory/money fights and boxing matches, and did not focus on being his best at MMA after the Alvarez fight. That's his own fault "tarnishing" his MMA record and legacy.

At 21-3, 2 of his losses were early in his career before hitting his prime and going on a 15 fight win streak. 3rd loss came to Nate Diaz at Welterweight. I thought he would beat Nate, but cannot call him overrated just because of that loss.

After that losing to Khabib, arguably the greatest LW ever is not knock on anybody considering Khabib was literally undefeated.

Also no shame in losing to Poirier. If he was 100% focused on MMA for the Poirier fights they could have gone down differently, as it did in 2014 for their first match, but Poirier also greatly improved over that time so who knows.

TL;DR: I don't think any version of McGregor beats Khabib, but it is conceivable that had he remained focused solely on MMA he could have beaten Poirier again. He has a chance against Holloway in R1, but anything beyond the first 3 minutes greatly favors Holloway. I'm picking Holloway.

The argument I'm making is that he was never really on the right end of his career. The whole career itself is exaggerated and fabricated. He caught 2 guys at good times that may not have been as good as presumed. He then did nothing.

The divisions were weaker, he was given the OG O'Malley opponent treatment up until championship fights, then disappeared.

Conor was the blueprint for modern day O'Malley. Exciting fighter given shitty opponents for the majority of his career to gain money off hype and entertainment.

Conor fought Aldo/ Alvarez on their way out and then avoided Woodley, Khabib, Ferguson, and anyone else with a pulse because he knew he'd get his arse kicked.

Holloway loses to Volk? Lets fight him 2 more times.

McGregor loses to Khabib? Lets run away like a bitch for 2 years, come back with an easy arse fight against a washed Cerrone so he can act like he's hot shite again, and then get fricked up twice by a guy who's better but not close elite. What a legacy.

Even with O'Malley's fabricated fights he still won the championship, had the balls to defend it twice, and had the balls to fight Dvalishvili again after losing.

O'Malley: 2 title defense/ fought the best guy twice.

McGrgeor: 0 title defense/ retired after losing to the best guy.

O'Malleys career at this point is twice as impresisve/ respected as McGrgegors even with the easy fights along the way.

Everyone knows O'Malley isn't all that even though he's a solid fighter. So yeah Conors whole career is a joke and his hype is based off avoiding opponents who could best him instead of fighting them.

is that why he came back and fought diaz even though he didnt have to after he lost to him... then fought poirier at 155 when dustin was a top 3 LW, after he had brutally KO dustin at 145? then came back and fought dustin again after he lost to him by KO?
