His injuries weren't that bad, relatively speaking. Don't get me wrong, those two cuts around his eye socket looked nasty, but there was nothing threatening about them past looking like shite at the club tonight. That nose probably is broken, though the cut was from training. The last two ppv's had much worse eye socket / forehead cuts than Rountree had tonight.

I feel like Pereira could have finished it in the first. I just got done watching the three rounds again and it was inexplicable the level of respect Pereira was showing him. I don't know if Pereira was just that concerned with Rountree's power, or if Pereira just didn't wanna hurt this guy.

I think a lot of it just has to do with his stature, but I'm trying to think of the last fight who had this kind of aura in the cage. Maybe it's just because I'm an obese pussy, but he's incredibly intimidating. Stalking. Just reeks of inevitability.

It's a shame we'll never get to see him in the cage with Jon Jones.

Pereira said in the ring interview that he watched tape on Roundtree and gameplanned to let him run his stamina out during the first two rounds.

Rogan was saying that Marc Goddard told him he's been refereeing for 20 years, and he's never heard anything like the sound of Pereira's hits--that the sound that Pereira's hits make is 'ungodly'.

Pereira rushed a bit in the second Izzy fight--he could have kept breaking Izzy down, kicking the leg and then beat him in the later rounds like in the first fight. Izzy played possum and let Pereira think that he had him on the fence like at the end of the first fight.

Pereira was also very drained from that weight cut. He took some good hits from Rountree tonight, but at 185, he can't take big hits when he's already zapped from the weight cut.

He beat Izzy 4 times before I mean he got a lucky shot on Alex and he paid the price. He's definitely a better fighter now since that fight

Yep, if Alex would have been patient in that Izzy fight he would have won, the patience he showed tonight was perfect.

Gonna be interesting to see what they do with Alex next.if jones wins against stipe that fight(jones vs Alex) at hw could be the biggest ever. Or do they let him fight ankalaev and then see what happens between jones/stipe/aspinall.

1.) I don't think Jones would ever agree to fight Pereira. I think it's less than 50/50 we ever see him agree to fight Aspinall. I really think Jones beats Miocic then retires, avoiding both of them.

2.) I don't think they'll let Pereira move up to HW for the title until he finishes out the 205 division. It would be a 100% dick move to take away Ank's shot at him after passing over him for Rountree.

I think the conversation is completely after Pereira fights Ank, win or lose.

I saw a video recently where Jones was saying that he thinks that's it for him after fighting Stipe--he's going to retire after that fight. Weeks or months before that, though, he was speculating about fighting Pereira, so he must have it in mind that he could beat Pereira. Probably through wrestling / submissions.

Both Jones and Pereira are 37--can't pretend like Jones is some old man compared to Pereira.

Jones has made it pretty clear that he wants no part of Aspinall.

Based on what Pereira said to Rogan after the fight, it sounds like the winner of Ankalaev vs. Rakic will be next for him--he's staying at LHW for now. I think Pereira believes that he can beat Ankalaev.

The ultimate GOAT arc for Pereira would be--beat Ankalaev or Rakic and declare total supremacy over LHW, then either go down to 185 to fight DDP for the title (if Strickland loses) and then Izzy for revenge. Or go up to HW and beat either Jones or Aspinall for legendary triple champ status. Or both scenarios if he's living an impossible dream--retire holding all three belts.

Before he's done, I definitely think Pereira wants to get that loss back vs. Izzy, but I think Izzy may just be too petty to give him the chance. It's like when you were kids and your brother 'retired' after beating you in a video game. It would probably be smart of Izzy too--I don't think Izzy beats him in a rematch.
