With in the last 2-3 years Hamil, Vlady, and T. Silva have all been ranked in or close to the top 10. Diabate and Te Huna both have the ability to end a fight instantly. I very much stand by my statement that they were all very tough fights. After Davis' last fight hes at least 2 fights away from a shot. The manner in which he lost has completely derailed him. The way AG got himself to the top is by beating 5 tough fighters. I'm not arguing the fact that Davis does or doesn't have an impressive resume. I am arguing the fact that Gustaffson needs to beat him to get a shot. If that's the case, then before Davis gets a shot he's got to beat Rashad.

Yep. He looked completely lost in there. It would have been better for his public perception had Rashad KO'd him early. That way we wouldn't have seen him look like only a wrestler in there with a top flight mixed martial artist for 3 rounds.

What's to be said about Gustaffson's TD and sub defense after the loss to Davis? His streak has made him the hot fighter right now, but what have we seen on any improvement here?

He has handily beaten Vlady and Hamill, both of who are solid wrestlers.

this argument is dumb anyway. they are training partners, they aren't fighting. Nobody cares about Phil Davis right now. Gustaffson will get crushed if he ever fights Jones regardless of how he would do against Ryan Bader. And his clover tattoo is just a notch above the Rosie Odonnell one that Alan Belcher has on his arm.

But it's a spade, and it illustrates the notches in his belt

Is anyone going to bet this fight? Moneyline is -450 Jones; +325 Suga.

I'm pretty tempted to throw a bill on Rashad just because of the dumb lines.

And Hammill is a good indicator of how he COULD do against a wrestler, but Hammill stopped taking people down a long time ago.

I just don't see how we can buy Alex as a threat to Jones because we all know where the fight is going and haven't seen anything to indicate him being able to survive that.

He is however, the next guy in line if he wins ANY fight between now and Hendo's shot.

So, barring another in the series of rematches we get nowadays, he'll probably get a shot just like guys who weren't really worthy have been in the 185 division for years now. What else can you do?

THIS! He didn't attempt a single takedown in his fight vs Gustaffson. You could tell he was on auto-pilot, waiting on his movie to come out.

I like Rashad's chances, but I would never bet against Jones.

This isn't going to be a great card for betting. Most value I see is Rothwell at over +200, but I wouldn't pull the trigger on that until the weigh-ins.

If he looks more like..

than...

...bet heavily on Rothwell.

this exactly. I think Rashad will charge JJ as soon as the bell rings and keep the pressure on him as long as he can. Keep the striking game close, and not allow the distance Rampage did where he'll just get picked apart all night from a mile away.

With Rashad's power, and probable lack of respect for Jones and his power, Rashad can make something happen. I also think he can take JJ down. The way he manhandled Phil Davis on the ground (ie: that crucifix) makes me believe he can do that to JJ as well.

Davis essentially has the same body/athleticism and wrestling skills as Jones, so it's very likely that will happen.

The difference is the striking and jiu jistu.

Rashad's best bet is to lay and pray for five rounds, and try not to get caught in a triangle or KOed with an upkick.

Under normal circumstances, Jones would easily cinch a win. Too many weapons. But hopefully for Rashad, Jones will be mentally worn out by all the pre-fight psychological warfare, and will have a bad day.

I really think after Rashad started knocking people out, he forgot just how great of a wrestler he was. If he could find a good medium of his good boxing and great wrestling he could be a very dominant champion (if he wins).

Rashad will outwrestle Jones but not outgrapple him. I think we're going to see a gauntlet of submission attacks from Jones.

As ridiculous as this sounds, Rashad actually holds a black belt in BJJ under Rolles Gracie.

Not ridiculous at all. Just don't think his BJJ can compare to Bones for physiological reasons. Jones' body was built for jiu jitsu.

Dana has already confirmed that if Bones retains the title, Hendo is next in line.

so if Jones loses, hendo is not next in line?
