Thanks all. I have sent these to the family. Looks like they are satisfied.

Fark Board delivers. Again.

Thanks again.

You used a filter for that Booger? Looks like could use that on something else I have to play around with.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I tried to fool with it for a while, I couldnt figure it out without it looking bad.

I know it's a tough project, I appreciate all the attemps.

Any photoshop pro's that attempt this care to give a few tips on a photo restoration like this?

old photo touchup

Hi guys.

Can anyone take this picture and enlarge it? I know it's old and grainy, so it's out of my amatuer photoshop league.

If possible, the family would like to make this a 5x7 or a 4x6.

This is the best pic i've got. It's from his obituary card, so it's small and not the best quality like I said.

TIA to anyone that could do this.

It is my understanding that signing the petition is to allow the people within the unincorporated area to vote on whether it might become a city if they get at least 25% of the people in the area to sign the petition. Signing the petition does not mean that you support St. George.

That is my understanding as well. But if you not for this, why would you want the opportunity to vote on it?
"He's a good person that has never been in trouble before"
LOL at anyone who wants to sign a petition to create a city because of some random's posts on frickin tiger droppings.

This is the biggest problem with this whole SG idea.

There are several QB's that could do what he does on that team. They are indeed stacked, and thus make him look elite, which he is not. More athletic Trent Dilfer.

Apple is chasing Samsung now, and they are running around with their tails between their legs. Samsung now owns 80% market share of the worlds mobile devices.

Harveston is at least about 175.

That was exactly my problem with it. SBR is pricy, but nothing close to 175 psf. OP's $400k for ~2500 sf is pretty accurate for SBR. Woodridge is cheaper though from what i've seen.

I just like the idea of it all, I guess - but I don't want to be part of the next Spring Lake.

I dont think Harveston will ever be anything like Springlake. It has a defined architectural style you have to abide by to build, and the houses will be more like and above the sizes in Fairhill than Springlake. Will be much nicer than both IMO.

The other side is suppose to have a strip mall, church, school, and grocery. If you call the realtor lady on their site or some of the builders they can tell you all of that. You can only use one of their 5 builders approved to build in there.
Harveston is way over priced. Looked into buying a lot in there several months ago.

I am in no way a fan of zero lot lines with 2 kids, regardless of the amenities. It is nice though if that's what you are looking for.
Don't act like an idiot when the cop grabs you to control a situation like that.

I don't feel sorry for that moron.

Is this right? I may be getting price gouged for a Catholic education in Rayne.

Yes. Well, technically you have to pay some other fees and all, so really I belive it's around $4100. Maybe other schools cost different based on classroom(s) and students per class and all. Also, it's more expensive if you are not catholic and dont live in the parish.

Have a child in 1st grade now.

Was like getting a big raise when catholic education started and we didnt have to pay day care anymore.
quote:

You are getting a discount if you are catholic, look at their rate schedule. Just because you've never had to look at it doesn't mean other people don't. I've looked at pretty much all of the private schools cost and none are at 3k a year.
Please prove that I'm ignorant and show me where tuition only costs 3k a year.

High School or Elementary?

Elementary is about $3800 a year.

Catholic High Schools in BR are more; but it's roughly the same costs per year as the good day care centers in this same city to put it in perspective.

Like another poster said, it's all about priorities, and that's why most cant (choose not to) afford a private education. However I do believe that some genuinely cant afford it and there is no decent public school to send their kids to in Baton Rouge. Which at that point means they are not making much money, and should just sell and move to Ascension (assuming they live in SBR) and give them a better public school education. Creating a new city isnt the answer.

While I have no issues with the man, and he has probably done a great job in office, it has to at least be somewhat alarming when someone that's in the position to push some of these initiatives and changes as an elected official of that area, is also leading the charge for SG to break free.

IMO job #1 for Mr White this session should be getting the SGFD the funding they deserve, not to keep them out in limbo so that they can remain part of the agenda of the VSG pushers. That's not right. Give them the money they need, and let the debate go on about the other issues.

quote:

So you don't trust the people leading the SG breakaway? Which ones in particular? What did they do for you to not trust them? And how can you say that the funding will not be there? The tax revenue for SG will exceed the current average tax revenue for BR. Sure there might be some initial cash flow issues but the tax revenue will not be a problem.

Who will they be? What have they done? How are they qualified to run a city? How are they qualified to fix the issues? What are their plans if their solutions cant work? What if they put the city in debt trying to fix problems? How will SG affect what is the rest of Baton Rouge? Will they be dependent on each other for anything?

You know politicians every single year have ideas, solutions, goals, and have the drive to get things done for the places they represent. We hear all the talk, just like now with SG. But sometimes, there are extenuating circumstances that prevent them from getting these things done. That's my fear. SG will come about, problems will arise, and they will be like holy frick what do we do now and it will be no different, or worse, than it was before.
quote:

How can you keep saying that when it has worked so well for central and Zachary? There are 2 good, recent examples of the success that proSG people are trying to achieve. It's been done already, twice, and it works. Did you complain like this when Central broke away? How about Zachary?

I'm not complaining. I'm just not for it. Just because it worked in other situations doesn't mean it will work this time. I don't trust it, nor do I trust the people spear heading it. And there is no way the funding will be there in this situation, IMO. That's why i'm against it.

Maybe if they are more prepared in a couple years, I could be for it. My kids will always be in catholic schools anyway, so I guess that's why i'm not super involved in this.

I am 100% in support of St. George FD getting the necessary funding they need from the existing city of BR. That should be able to be done with the system that is currently in place.
quote:

I'm not 100% for St. George....but I'm about at the point now where I say frick it lets give it a try because we can't get much worse from an administrative and educational perspective. I think a good many people are like this as well.

Starting a new city isn't the answer though.

People bitch and moan about the federal government constantly. Does anyone say "Hey let's break free from America and start our own country in Louisiana!" Hell no. You deal with it, or you make an attempt to get people from your area on the school board, metro council, legislature, etc to push solutions to your issues through. The private school education is great in this city also, from the elementary level all the way through high school. Public schools are a mess, yes. How in the world can anyone be sure a new city will alleviate these problems?

I live in this St. George Proposal and i'm definitely against it. This whole "Village of St. George" thing reeks of a backyard BBQ movement of people who decided they are upset with the town/government/schools/etc and decided one day, "hey it would be a great idea to start a new city!!!! YAY!!! That will fix everything" The majority of the ones in support of this have no clue how to run a city, what's involved in it, and are so unprepared for this. For those reasons, I am against it. This city isn't perfect by any means, but IMO this idea smells of disaster.

Reminds me completely of this:
