he was very close to getting that choke

actually condit stopped the choke attempt before he went for the arm. condit had great defense there and diaz arm was a few inches above the chin, no way he could've sank in a choke there with less than 30 seconds on the clock

I like to score my own personal minutes per round when scoring too. But I thought Diaz opened rd 5 better and definitely finished stronger. Condit did some good work in the middle. But overall those first 4 minutes were pretty even. Point being, rd 5 was close at worst. Condit didnt run away with rd 5.

I judge rounds by effective movement towards ending a fight. If neither guy gets close to finishing the fight, then it moves to damage done.

ring control, etc doesn't mean anything to me.

If fighter A circles and jabs fighter B 10-20 times in the round for 4 minutes and Fighter A lands one hard overhand right in the last, Fighter A wins the round imo.

Sport would be better if this is the way it was judged.

no problem with that opinion at all. u backed it up well and thats all that matters.

i hate that condit just ran away the whole fight but by the current system he won in my opinion

it was an entertaining fight compared to the few before it. and i'm glad poirer dominated.

the problem with "octagon control" is ... does that mean it is necessarily the guy that stands in the middle? or is it the guy that imposes his will (for instance i think condit made diaz fight condit's fight tonight) ... again, i don't know what the official definition is for octagon control is .. but, apparently there isnt a unified definition

If I offended you I'm sry I don't mean to sound like that. In my opinion if someone gets you to that spot on the ground you shouldn't get anything to help you win the round other then dmg control

don't get me wrong but getting to the mount or to someones back gives you a lot of points

i agree with this but only if it happens with over a minute and a half left in the round

Most of the rounds I had condit winning was a very slight 10-9 because he wasn't landing any big shots. If Diaz got something big like a dominant position or a knockdown I'd give the round a 10-9 to Diaz

why does the time of the round factor into the scoring for you? just curious

I had Nick winning 2 & 5, Condit winning 1 & 4... With 3 being close (probably in favor of Carlos)

Diaz clearly thought his aggression and control of the octagon was enough to win him the fight. I kept wondering why he wasn't trying to get the fight to the ground

I know a lot of people hate Diaz. But I love the way both Nick and Nate talk shite both before and during the fights. Then the second the fight is over, they immediately hug the opponent and give him props. Thats the way it should be. Makes for better buildup and more anticipation. Plus I think I personally would hate the guy I'm about to fight too.

even though Diaz had octagon control he didn't do anything with it. He could have risked more to keep Condit against the fence. That's what I would of told him to do because Condit was throwing off his back foot all day and I don't think he could of KO'd Diaz

for me personally ... nick takes it a little bit too far in the octagon during the fight ... nate seems to just tell it like it is and then just fight when its time to fight ... i may just be basing that tho on being able to see nate on TUF and no his brother ... dunno

Its definitely disrespectful, but at the same time, it is a fight. But its genuine. The second the fight was over, he calls him over and hugs him. Nate did the same thing with Cerrone and those frickers HATED each other.

I'd call it a competition than a fight because some guys just go in there to win and others go in to fight. In a bar fight or something like that do you think Condit would be fighting like that?

I can't trust/have faith in what any of these "experts" say, or how they judge a fight. All those same guys were giving Bisping the fight last week....
