GSP coming off surgery and yr layoff?
I'd give it a 97% chance he lay n prays it out for 5 rounds.

sorry, i should have clarified ... i dont think GSP would need 5 rounds to win the fight ... and no i am mos def not sure he couldnt hang with their conditioning ... i just thought their cardio and the pace of the fight was completely off the charts

I respect the hell out of GSP but that fight is gonna suck. The buildup and mutual hatred for a GSP-Diaz unification fight would be the shite.

Condit won rounds 1,4,5 handily. i hated the way that fight went though.
he really did run away the entire fight. Diaz fault for not securing a clinch or taking him to the ground.
if a guy is gonna run and he's beating you, maybe u shouldn't keep doing the same thing for 4.8 rounds.
if he tried that take down to start the 4th instead of at the end of the 5th, he couuldn't actually won the fight

GPS is going to lay and pray for 5rds

the build up for GSP-Diaz fight would be similar to the GSP/Koscheck fight IMO ... disagree??

Condit didn't win 5. Diaz got his back and almost submitted him. Diaz won 5 easy

GSP-Kos had TUF for buildup but it was Kos doing 99% of the jawing.
This would have been better. GSP uncharacteristically has been voicing his opinions and claiming to root for a Diaz fight.

u must've missed the 1st, 4th, and first 4 minutes of the 5th round

i had condit in 1,3, and 4 with rd 2 being very close.

so do you agree with my assessment?

I'm not saying the 1st and 4th rounds I'm just saying the 5th round. Even though condit controlled most of the round Diaz getting a superior position and almost sinking in a submission will take the round where no real significant strikes were landed by Condit.

i thought condit controlled the last round for the first 4 mins ... it just depends on how the judges score the round ... do the give diaz the points for almost submitting him? or do they give condit the points for fighting off the submission and getting back to his feet?? i dunno what the right answer is .. just an observation

I was giving Condit the slight scoring edge for rd 5 before the takedown and submission attempt. If you argue you still score it for Condit, thats cool. But I disagree with the "handily".

it's damage control if someone gets your back. you won't be awarded any points for defending when someone is on your back

i think rd 5 was close after the takedown but he didn't really do much with it. so 4 minutes to 1 i had to give it to condit. i was hoping Diaz could lock in something so this didn't have to go to the judges and was screaming at the TV in the 4th round for him to attempt a takedown because his jujitsu is very good and condits isn't spectacular

he was very close to getting that choke then when he was running out of time he just went for the arm lock.

i've just heard the commentators and former fighters mention being able to reverse positions and defending submissions being similar to stuffing takedown attempts ... i dunno how true that is ... i think the judging in MMA has GOT to gain some consistency, cuz some of these decisions (especially on ultimate fighter) are getting ridiculous
Posted on 2/5/12 at 12:45 am to TigerLunatik
I hate the judges don't get me wrong but getting to the mount or to someones back gives you a lot of points. It's like rocking someone. These are the most dominant positions on the ground.
