Wasn't this greatest of all time team down 20+ points in third quarter to a Tony Parker-less Spurs team at home before dirty play took out Leonard for the series?

It would have still been surprising if they never made a run to close the gap.

I agree but frick Durant. More Draymond and Klay and less of Durant. Durant scored the majority of those points uncontested.

While apparently true, cavs can still win the series.

Love has to hit for 30.
He was absent without leave.
In first half korver and love were oh for 3 pt line.
If they both hit 3s cavs can win. And its entirely possible.

Has looked good without Lebron. He's done well with not much talent.

I'll always place an asterisk on this GSW team as being "the best ever" because the Spurs had them on the ropes in Game 1 of the conf finals before Kawhi got injured.

The 76ers stole Game 1 from the Lakers in 2001. Doesn't really mean anything.

Didn't this dude just the other day say that the Celtics were harder to defend than the Warriors? The excuses are crossing each other up

No amount of nostalgia should take away the fact that this is the best team the NBA has ever seen.

And if it wasn't for the efforts of probably the greatest player of all time, they would be looking at a three-peat this year.

That's one game. GS has lost plenty of games this year so no, they're not unbeatable and yeah, the Spurs probably would've won that game. If you think the Spurs would've won the series with a healthy Leonard that's your prerogative, but that's still pure speculation. GS has owned the Spurs recently imo. The Spurs were probably too old to hang with GS enough to win the series and Aldridge ended up being a bad fit. Pretty safe to say that GS probably would've won, KL injury or not.

Not saying GSW would have lost the series. I'm saying the SA/GSW series could have cemented their legacy as "The Best Team Ever". I will always have a nagging thought as to how a healthy KL coupled with a great schematic coach in Pop could have changed our thoughts on 2017 GSW.

Cavaliers Coach Ty Lue is asked how good this Golden State team is. Answers: "They're the best I've ever seen."

I was thinking about this last night.

- If the Warriors are able to finish the Cavs in 4 or 5 games, which wouldn't be an absolute shock at this point, Silver might want to change his stance on the "watching excellence". What's the point of an NBA season at all if the best player in the NBA and a pretty damn good supporting cast can't even make it competitive?

- It's pretty obvious to see why the Cavs struggled. Their entire strategy on defense last year was "Smother Curry - Contain Klay - Let Barnes/Green beat us". It worked cause Barnes was replaced by Kevin Durant, who played a masterful game last night. Amazing how much better his game as gotten in one year in GSW. For those discounting coaching on the GSW staff, the jump from OKC to GSW should quell that ridiculousness.

- Klay Thompson played poorly on offense last night, but man is it nice to see him lock in on defense. If he comes to life on offense, this could get even uglier.

- GSW's defense is absurd. They are active. They are deep. There's always movement and disruption into passing lanes. Cleveland doesn't have the personal to punish them for going small.

- As funny and as homerish as this may seem, I wonder if the ever-crappy, ever-lucky Dell Demps might have lucked into the wave of the future. 2 super talented bigs who create match-up nightmares for the small-ball Warriors. I'm not saying the Pelicans are primed for a run, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were able to give the league and GSW something to ponder in the regular season next year.

- It is going to take near perfection from Love on down to the role players to make this a series. Guys can't be passing up open 3s to drive into traffic. Thompson and Love need to start acting like they have height and weight on these Warriors. Have to be able to cut down on the turnovers from the bench. Deron Williams looked like shite in particular. They miss Delly. Someone not scared of the moment and brings a defensive intensity and hustle to the 2nd unit.

Ty Lue isn't wrong by the way. This team is very filthy and was able to be built because of a weird cap escalation that gave them space with old deals on their best players.

This. I love everything about the spurs organization. And K Leonard is my favorite athlete right now because of who he is and how I have no issues telling my kids to copy everything about him.

But GS is legit and I don't see the Spurs winning that series.
