I’d say the game has changed a little in the last 10 years.

Joe Burrow vs Clemson - 2019
31/49, 463 yards, 5 TDs

Greg McElroy vs Texas - 2009
6/11, 58 yards, 0 TDs

McEleroy sucks as a commentator too. Very insulting to the concept of Rhodes scholar finalists.

Texas would’ve won with healthy Colt McCoy

Garrett Gilbert got thrown into the fire and went 15/40 for 186 yards, 2 TD and 4 INT. That's a rough baptism into big time college football.

Either way, Texas couldn't stop Ingram or Richardson and Alabama would have won even if McCoy didn't get hurt.

Joe Burrow would have claimed the single season completion percentage mark if Colt McCoy didn’t get hurt on the opening drive. He wouldn’t have competed 75% against Bama. His numbers would have dropped.

He wasn't hurt. He went talk to daddy and they decided to sit and prepare for his #1 pick and all pro career.

Just watched a replay of that game the other day. Why the frick did Saban fake a punt on 4th and 23 deep in his own territory on their first drive?

Another title where Alabama caught a break, forgot about that one.

I think he’s one of the best in college right now personally

More a commentary on both as players

I don’t think Bama needed to throw in that game. The Texas back up QB kept throwing picks.

Having said that, I’ll always be of the opinion that if Colt doesn’t get “hurt”, UT wins.

Burrow played through the pain, and if you watch the game again knowing, you can see how affected he was in the second half.

How about JJ in 2012 though

11-17 53 yards INT but also added a monster day on the ground with 14 carries for 15 yards and a fumble.

Burrow had big shoes to fill wearing JJs revered #9, he may have won the championship bc of superior skill position players, but the jury is still out on who will go down as the better player in history of college football

Because all injuries are exactly the same, right?

Why in the world would Mccoy intentionally not play if he could?

Such a dumb conspiracy theory.

refs allowed late bama hits on mccoy and on lsu's lee.

People are way more civilized and tame about it than i am. You run a play right over the ref on the next possession.

In the 1950s nfl guys would clean that shite up as i indicate.

He’s good.

I swear it’s like everyone has to hate every commentator for some reason.

In his defense.. He was playing in a Les Miles offense.

He's so full of himself too. He probably goes home and whacks off to pictures of himself, and savors the smell of his own farts

To be fair, McElroy played with two broken ribs from the SECCG. His lack of passing attempts was a conscious game plan decision. I don’t think he attempted a pass more than 20 yards.

The team knew going in that they would have to ride Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, and the defense to win, and that’s pretty much how it played out.
