Not ruled out, still a chance but not expecting him to return.

For the record since many sky-scream about it:

SGA attempted 3 free throws.

Kennard had 4 free throws

Team wise LA 13 to OKC 12 for 25 total

I thought refs did a great job letting teams play. Only 30 total fouls called

By contrast the earlier game had 51 free throws. More than double.

Mark Daigneault postgame on OKC holding the Lakers to 37 points in the 2nd half:

"We settled in defensively. We had some gameplan-type breakdowns early. We tightened that up and got a feel for how they were trying to attack us in the second half, which was helpful."

Mark Daigneault on OKC’s defense on Austin Reaves:

“I think we did a good job of just executing the plan on him. With him, you can’t give him any cracks… make him earn everything..”

Reaves had 8 points on 3-16 shooting.

More from Daigneault:

"Both teams have margin for improvement. I anticipate that they'll improve with the series, because they're a good team, they're well coached, and they've got veteran guys."

OKC with an easy cover

SGA played like dogshit tonight too. Looked drunk out there with some of the turnovers and the couple times he was looking strictly to go to the line.

Legitimately messed up the momentum towards the end of the 2nd half.

Shoutout Joe-Caine going 80% from 3

If I need info from different angles, you’re the one who has it in one thread. I get what I can from X, WWLS, Internet, ESPN; but you always have great info I can keep up with. You’re the Man OU Guy!

Not meant to be a troll post as I’m rooting for OKC in this series, but man…these are bad.

The Lakers have no one who can stay in front of SGA and he’s not getting his ‘Hall of Fame Whistle’ against LeBron.

So hopefully SGA just says to hell with the foul baiting and we get to see him torch the Lakers while only shooting single digit free throws/game.

To me, that would do a lot for him and silence some critics.

Here, watch this video and the comments that go with.

ThunderChats
@ThunderChats

Play 1: As Shai turns into triple threat position and goes for pull up, Reaves has both hands on arm

Play 2: As Shai pulls up, Kennard makes clear contact with shooting elbow before shot is released

Play 3: Shai steps on Aytons foot (called a foul on IHart when Reaves did) Ayton then swipes down as Shai goes for shot attempt (no call on either)

Play 4: Shai goes to split the double and Kennard runs into him, gets semi clean attempt up

Play 5: Shai drives from left to right, Hayes jumps and his momentum carries him into Shai as he is airborne

Hope this helps

Last night was my first time to watch SGA in awhile really. My observation is it’s very surprising he’s thought of as “best in league” type. Just looks like a very efficient short to mid range scorer. He is the best player on the best team so it means something. I would be curious to see him on a team that isn’t stacked and what those results look like. Luka beat his squad with ease two years ago when things seemed more even. That being said he should stack a few trophies!

The things you point out above are probably true in they are fouls or flops. If you want them to be fouls, then you want to say the man is not very physical or strong. He would have retired seeing the lack of whistle on those types of plays throughout history for other stars like LeBron or Shaq to name some.

I just love the narratives when people only look for something and haven’t watched all their games.

If this had been SGA it would be posted 10 times here. But they aren’t looking for it.

When you watch football and look for offensive holding you will find it every play.

There was no call on this play. And I think it was mostly unintentional. But reverse the roles and insert SGA and there would be outcry.

Plays 1 & 2. Marginal contact. In the playoffs, if the shot isn't significantly altered, that whistle stays in the pocket.

Play 3: Shai steps on Aytons foot (called a foul on IHart when Reaves did) Ayton then swipes down as Shai goes for shot attempt (no call on either)

This is "incidental" territory. Hunting a call on a foot-tangle is a high-risk, low-reward play in a high-stakes series.

Play 4: Shai goes to split the double and Kennard runs into him, gets semi clean attempt up

Initiating contact while splitting a double often results in a "no-call" or an offensive foul if the flail is too aggressive.

Play 5: Shai drives from left to right, Hayes jumps and his momentum carries him into Shai as he is airborne

If Shai is the one seeking the contact to draw the whistle, refs are trained to let it go unless it's a flagrant landing zone issue.

Hope this helps

But again, I have no interest in arguing these ticky-tacky fouls. Because Shai is so much better than any other guard in this series that we shouldn't be!

It's not that he isn't getting hit or the Lakers aren't getting away with stuff, it's that he's too good to even be playing for the whistle in the first place.

Even as a Thunder fan, you can at least acknowledge the narrative around him, no? Don't you want to see him get no calls and still just hang 50 on em? Wouldn't that go a long way in shutting-up a lot of the "haters?"

Lakers are overmatched.

Only a small move was made at the trade deadline.

This offseason they will build a contender around Luka with $50 mil in cap space and three first round picks to trade.

He had 3 FTs last night. And yet still in this thread you can see the hate agenda. Its a social media narrative disconnected from facts and rules of game.

Its very rare, practically impossible to have an honest game thread or discussion. Hell, someone even bitched because I made a game-thread. Seriously, its on page 1. Mostly here its just posters name calling and not discussing basketball.

I’ll make a game thread in OU board. Anyone is welcome there to have real discussion.
