'There are a lot of red flags'

quote:

"What are you going to do with family members? My wife is pregnant, what am I going to do when she goes into labor? Am I going to have to quarantine for two weeks after I come back?

yes, that's exactly what you would do.

quote:

We can't be sitting in our hotel rooms, and just going from the field to the hotel room and not being able to do anything. I think that's pretty crazy."

crazy? every regular citizen in America is currently having to do this after to going to work, not playing baseball for millions.

Kershaw said something similar yesterday, and this way of thinking is starting to piss me off. I get that it isn't ideal, but everyone is making sacrifices right now. they have kids who don't see their parents for much longer because they're in the military, but somehow they survive.

what says the MSB?

Kershaw and Trout have made generational wealth.

I'm sure there are some guys really scrapping for contracts in the minors that have different feelings.

Well they're financially in a position where they can make those decisions...maybe this is the start of the collapse of the $300,000,000 sports contracts

I wonder if Trout is aware that military personnel do this for like six months to a year at a time.

If they are rich enough to not have to play and don't want to, what are you going to do about it?

Mike Trout has a little more bargaining power than your typical military dad.

Trout didn't sign up for the military.

And Military personnel knew they would be doing this when they enlisted

Do you think Trout knew he would be isolated to a particular part of the country, forced to stay in a hotel, and miss his child’s birth?

Idk it depends on how much money the league is losing.

There are plenty of mlb players who need and want that money. The league could say frick you to trout and kershaw and just start the league without them. Trout and kershaw won’t get paid and their reputations will suffer whatever the consequences are of deciding not to play.

People will watch whoever is in those uniforms and watch it vociferously bc they’re so sports starved.

Every regular citizen in America is being forced by their employer to move for a few months and live in a hotel?

It would be more than those two. Zero chance that happens

Sure...but what do you do if the top 100 paid players all say no?

I have a hard time being mad at Trout. He doesn't want to do a 2 week quarantine away from his pregnant wife, or be separated from his family for montha on end.

Those are just normal human emotions.

Yeah, he wouldn't nearly be suffering as much as some other people have, but that's how life is. Trout going to Arizona isn't going to help other people making sacrifices.

I feel like sometimes we forget athletes are just people, and this is one of those times.

Yeah, it's dumb to be mad at him. If he has the means to tell his employer to screw off it's well within his rights.

I wonder if Trout is aware that prisoners go decades without seeing their family.

I assume they mean physical therapy, training, coaching, etc
