Buckeye fans love to fit in to the crowd here on TD. Woody would turn in his grave. Go ahead and fire Tressel. I cant wait for 8-4 seasons again.

"At the end of the day Jim Tressel is our football coach and we support him 100%" These are the words of Athletic Director Gene Smith but should reflect the student body as a whole....Now is the time to pull together as Ohio State and support OUR COACH...

Yeah, reading those totally changed my perception of the situation. If those are true, his arse needs to get gone. I feel like the NCAA investigation is gonna make the punishment worse now.

You can stop being a OSU fan now. GTFO. Yes you have no loyalty, shameful.

what in the shite?

if he's cheating, and stupid enough to likely get your team in major trouble, loyalty has no place in the discussion

His loyalty is to OSU as a university, as it should be. He shouldn't have any loyalty to a liar and a cheater who has now done significant harm to everyone's perception of that school.

I disagree with the 1st statement, agree with the 2nd and 3rd and disagree with the last. As a proud follower of the Massillon Tigers who personify integrity and honesty I expect more from an Ohio team.

I've been a Tressel apologist for a while. He has had a lot of success. However, the way OSU handled this was bad.

I'd take a honest and truthful buckeye fan over a blind ignorant fool like yourself anyday.

And what the frick do you know about Woody Hayes...you weren't even alive when he was coaching. GTFO of here with that bullshite.

exactly how i feel. Brother-in-law in Atlanta from TOSU and though i dont necessarily agree with him I respect him as he acknowledges the program for what it is warts and all. Fan maturity?

Beleive it or not, not all of us are blind idiots.

I just don't see how being ignorant is the same as being loyal. LesMilesMorePryor obviously disagrees.

I know personal friend's of Jim Tressel and those that work under him, and they would NOT support these actions. For the heir apparent of the OSU AD position to hear/know about these action and not do/say anything about them is ireprehensible. There is no place for that. I thought JT was a man of integrity first ad foremost and would fight for him tooth and nail.

He has just proven himself to not be that man. He reeps what he sows. I wish him the best, but ill be GD to support someone who lies.

I see it as being more loyal, if something occurs that will damage the program in the short medium or long term it must be gotten rid of.

As I said I have no idea and neither does anyone on this board. From the press conference (I haven't read the emails which to me are still not confirmed as the actual ones since they are still evidence in an open case as Smith said last night) I'm not defending his actions but I am saying that I believe those emails are fake (as I said i haven't read them)

Cognitive dissonance at its finest. You are impervious to facts.

I love this... an 'attorney' says please keep a secret and we act like he has some obligation to do so. Unbelievable.

It is amazing that Tressel really thought people would buy this. This is the very definition of hubris.

A tip of the hat to you. After the Texas baseball coach got a DUI, I was banned from Hornfans.com for insisting that he be fired. People love to switch off their common sense when their heart is involved. I salute you for your honesty.

Same here. I have always liked and respected Tress. Always. Shite happens at every school. We all know it. OSU and Tress both handled this poorly.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the thought of no one (coach, AD, student-athlete, etc.) is bigger than the university itself.

Tressel also mentioned one player was killed, several under federal drug investigations, the memorabilia scam, etc. Why hasn't anyone stated that the players' actions are a direct reflection of their leader??? Tressel has turned a blind eye numerous times and it is now catching up with him and the program is the one that will suffer the most.

Just catching up after Mardi Gras, and wow.

I have to admit I had totally bought that Opie Cunningham act Tressel had going. Looking back, I guess after Mo Clarrett we all should have seen through his 'apple pie' facade.

Based on his willful disregard and especially the pre-Sugar Bowl crap, I wonder if the NCAA hits Ohio State as bad as USC. Pete Carroll covered things too, but once things started coming to light he basically nodded and left town. Tressel tried to slither by.
