He was on the Russillo pod and was asked about that situation, a top Heisman candidate being benched. Dilfer has worked with both Rattler and Caleb Williams at the Elite 11 camp. Prefaced by saying Ratter was a good player and good kid (didn't want to come across like he was bashing him), but said Rattler is very much about the attention. Has always been, to the point where it can come across as obnoxious. If there is a camera nearby, Rattler will find it. His social media presence is all about getting as much exposure as he can, and it's like he's not about football because he loves it, it's more about what it can do for him.

In contrast, Caleb Williams is through and through a team first, me second kind of player. Super humble and everyone loves him. Said it's going to be really hard for Riley to NOT play Williams going forward.

Also said with TCU and Kansas coming up there will be opportunities for them both to get a considerate amount of playing time, but more than likely it's going to be Williams' job going forward.

Then the big question is does Rattler consider a transfer or just cut bait and enter the draft.

IMO he has to transfer and address some issues he has shown with turnovers and inconsistency to improve his stock. I think he would still get drafted if he comes out in 2022, but would be leaving millions on the table.

You gotta be a real a-hole to have Dilfer say anything bad about you as a player or person

He also comped Rattler to Baker Mayfield and Williams to Russell Wilson and Mahomes (in terms of the throws he can make).

If I'm in Rattlers ear, I tell him to transfer to a mid major school with an up and coming coaching staff and try again - max out the eligibility and actually work on his game to be a better qb, not just worry about getting into the NFL. I doubt there will be many places where he'd make big bucks of NIL, so go somewhere to build for the future.

But that comes with a slice of humble pie he’s not shown the maturity to be willing to eat.

Probably because he doesn't have anybody in his ear with the maturity to realize it, either.

Rattler could thrive and grow in the right situation.

He has a quick release and can spin it. Just needs a coach to realize pocket passing when your OL sucks isnt a recipe for success.

I think something like a Tennessee or UCLA would be a great opportunity for him.

Oklahoma is probably the most QB-friendly school you could go to

I like this Williams kid. He was cool and calm while playing lights out.

Exactly, which is why his early struggles should have left a big "oh, so he's terrible" taste in everyone's mouths.

You have to fricking suck at QB to be bad in the OU offense.

Hooker is a senior but he has the CoVid exemption from last year so he can come back for another season in 2022. Wouldn't make much sense for Hooker not to use it nor would it make much sense for Tennessee to look for another QB after the way they've been rolling with him.

I bet he could still go in the 1st round. Some team will see the arm talent and convince themselves that they can fix and develop him

True....but I was commenting more on the program/coach/system more so than actually knowing their current QB room situation.

Rattler to Liberty or wherever Freeze goes

Freeze is making Malik Willis a legit talent.

I mean, he still is on a lot of draft analysts boards. He had dropped down to the bottom of the 1 round according to kiper and his scout connections before last week.

He would still go in the first few rounds you Would think. Late second or third.

He has good tape out there and last year he looked like a sure first rounder.
Y’all know how it is though, it’s really hard to predict the narrative. He would be at the combine and if he looked great there and pro day who knows
