Horrible crash for Fuglsang.
im always surprised there are not more.
I could not stand riding with people all around me, going around curves.
You are depending on others to do right.

Cav has always said amateur riders wouldn’t even get to the start line because they would crash in the neutral zone

I haven't been too pumped for it this year. But I'll be watching Wednesday and Thursday stages for sure

They could hold it for a while with Van Aert able to compete on hilly stages like 3 and 5. Alaphillipe will be the guy making the hardest push for yellow tomorrow and the rest of the week.
It will be interesting to see how GCs handle stage 6.

Yup, Wout takes yellow tomorrow.

Stage 3 should be a burner. Michelton Scott's director believes only 30 guys will be going to the line

Julian on the attack. Going to be close

Unbelievable climb by my dude Alaphilippe! He’a gonna win the stage after that attack.
I think that means he’ll take yellow as well!!

He just keeps getting better and better. It was incredible.

That was incredible move by Julian. Chapeau to him.

Jokes on the Manx Missle, I would be so far off the back even in the neutral zone I would avoid anything... except maybe the team cars.

This stage had JA written all over it, but only easy made the call. It’s so appropriate now after the fact and many forgot how good JA can be on this type of a course. Great effort for the win today!

Per Phil, Jens Voight said some locals told him that Alaphillipe had been to the stage area weeks ago and rode the last 30K three times, doing tests to see where he needed to brake for turns. It’s good to see such dedication pay off.
The broadcast is better this year. They’ve added looks back at past winners and riders (video of Bob Roll back in the day and the profile of the Australian cyclist who was the first non-Euro to wear yellow was pretty cool), some Q&A with riders #askTejay, and explain basic concepts like breakaway strategy.
They need that to help potential new fans learn how it works. Many cyclists who may be interested in the TDF do not race or have experience with team tactics.
It remains to be seen if the virtual board is helpful to viewers. It has potential, but we’ll see.
For the last several years, they’ve pretended Lance Armstrong never existed. Today they played a video clip from his podcast, and I see an interview with him is scheduled for Tuesday after the race. He’s the only cyclist most Americans can name, so you may as well acknowledge him even if you don’t celebrate him.

Dope or not, he was the fastest on the road 7 times. Still, they let known dopers keep their shite. TBH...it was a fricked up era and I don’t know a good solution.
ETA: cycling has been and is dirty...probably always will be. I still like it with all it’s faults...

I don’t think all the GC guys were excited about how that went down, haha. I’m not sure how Alaphilippe and his team will handle stage 6. Stage 5 looks like another one for Alaphilippe unless a break is allowed some freedom.
Tomorrow will be a sprint. I don’t know how healthy Groenewegen is after his crash, but if he’s healthy, he will be in the mix tomorrow.

How did JA catch the leader today? Last I saw he was up 2:30 on last 2 climb

They’re going to lose the jersey. If he’s still in yellow after stage six I’ll be surprised and might have to get use to him in yellow until 13 or 14. Stage six is MFer. Don’t see JA anywhere near the final group on that day. I’ve been wrong before, so...
