This may be a win for Miami.
They are putting a lot of faith in Redmond knowing what he is doing. I would have loved to see that job interview.

So it's Reyes, Johnson, Buehrle, Buck, Bonifacio and $4M for Escobar, Hechavarria, Alvarez, Nicolino, Mathis, Marisnick and DeSclafani.

The 2012 experiment = epic FAIL by the Marlins

Asked official with one of clubs if he has any concern that commissioner might kill the deal. His response: "None at all."
Also has this much salary ever been dumped before? 116 million to 16 million?

Marlins better hope one turns into a super star and a few others serviceable players

Marlins are such a terrible franchise.

they somehow kept their best prospect
but they were high on Marisnick(#2 prospect by baseball america) and Hecherverria
Alvarez pitched a full season in the MLB last year at 22. Hech played in the bigs last year at 23
who knows. Not exactly the coup you'd expect for those guys, but they have some promise.

It depends on how well Redmond knew the talent. I'm curious to see if he went to the Marlins with this idea or they came to him with it. It is a big difference between a Lugnut & the majors.

They are talking about maybe flipping Buck to another team...jesus what happened to Authonopopopolis
second coming of Pat Gillick

still we don't have a manager at this point...i wonder who knows these guys best....

they got nicolino too. He and marisnick are 2 pretty good prospects.
Marisnick top 100 guy.
Nicolino a 2nd rounder in 2010 that has a 2.09 ERA over 2 minor league seasons in A ball.

@Buster_ESPN: From a pure baseball standpoint, the Marlins did well with this deal. But this trade has a lot more ripples beyond the makeup of the roster.
