The world we live in don't have much to offer black kids

They can't come out to play without worrying about getting shot or pulled into a gang
If he gave half a frick about this he'd address those frick arse gangs who are fricking up these kids' lives. He'd spend his energy making their environment more safe. What has he ever done to help people? I mean, frick.
And before everybody claims nobody pays him attention....
Why does he continue to be allowed around all these situations? If black people didn't respect him then they'd tell him to frick off and he wouldn't have a job.

quote:Just in my hometown. We had 2 separate parks who had allstar teams. If we could have merged them, we would have gone 5 deep on our pitching staff with kids who ended up being drafted, and high! And 1-9 in the lineup would have been unreal. But we were all split up which watered down the 2 teams.
There is a whole different level of baseball when all teams can choose the best kids from wherever
Now imagine teams in Orlando or LA or Chicago being about I pull talent from out of other districts. You just can't do that in LL allstars. And while I don't blame the kids for all of this, I was WELL aware of the rules and of the fact that it would be cheating to grab a few studs from across town. This shite is a joke.

"I can't help but question whether the same thing would have been done with another team from another place - another race," he said.
If a team of all-star white kids had been assembled to beat the team of AFRICAN-AMERICAN kids, the game would never have even finished without an on field protest by Al and Jesse.
Just because you are allegedly a "suppressed minority" doesn't mean you can cheat.
Maybe next year a hand picked team of kids from south Florida or south Texas should show up. Those black kids will leave crying.

Some of the kids didn't even live in Chicago. They lived outside of the city in suburban towns.
This was essentially a travel ball team playing against playground teams.

Hey Jackie Robinson Little League team, come on down south and play Chet Lemon's Juice or East Cobb
Hell, my LL team was pretty much from the same neighborhood!
These guys flat out cheated, period. And in the worst way.

Well, you're kind of stretching the situation here. They pulled a handful of kids from neighboring districts, not across town or from another part of the state. And from the article, it sounds like most everyone was aware they were doing it, and those districts had chosen not to participate in the tournament and basically allowed those kids to play for Jackie Robinson West.
The problem seems to have arisen when Jackie Robinson West tried to make those neighborhoods a permanent part of their territory.
I certainly disagree that this story is, or should be, about race. But I definitely agree that they're a little late to the party. LLI seems to have known all along that this was going on, but like the NCAA or MLB or NFL, once a light was shone on the situation, they chose to come down hard to save face.
ETA: The article does say "neighboring leagues" so that could be a wider geographical area than I originally interpreted.

They should have banned the Adults involved in this for life from LL baseball, then make them go on national TV and apologize to the team and tell them exactly what they did.

I could name drop, but won't. But just a few miles made the difference in the allstar teams where I lived being a who's who of baseball talent. I'm talkin potential Cy Young winners and kids who were simply otherworldly at that age all being on the same team.
But you can't do that. These are small park, playground teams. You don't get to hand pick kids from around the way.

Another kid is from Lansing, Illinois, another suburb outside of Chicago.
Another kid is from Homewood, Illinois, another suburb outside of Chicago.
One player is from South Holland, Illinois, another suburb outside of Chicago.
And another player is from Dolton, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago.
Most of those suburbs are south of Chicago.
Then there are the kids who do live in Chicago but are from all over town like the kids from Bucktown and the West Side which are north and northwest.
So they're from all over the city and many not even in the city of Chicago at all.

I don't disagree. You and I have talked ball on here before, if I remember correctly. And if I do, and you're from Mobile, it shouldn't be hard to figure out who you're talking about.
But that's beside the point. What they did was against the rules, but the article in the OP doesn't really paint a picture of malicious intent. Until JRW decided to try and permanently get those districts added to their area by back dating a map.
I don't agree with stripping the title and awarding it to the Las Vegas team, that's pretty damn pointless.
Posted on 2/12/15 at 1:43 pm to PrimeTime Money
If you think for a second that the Vegas team was a park ball team, you are nuts! Mone Davis team didn't even live in the same city, they were a travel ball team who commuted two times a week to practice for this.

Hell, even Stephen A Smith ripped them and I expected his racist arse to support jesse
Posted on 2/12/15 at 1:49 pm to Wayne Campbell
There was protesting done by the neighboring district but he was protesting to an official that has hence been let go by this situation. They gerrymandered the district to pool the all-black team together from the surrounding areas.. In reality, the most racist thing done throughout this ordeal was done by Jackie Robinson in an effort to win with an all black team. They admitted over the last few years that they were a few players short from making it..thus why they rigged the districts the way they did.

I still think you have to take the title from them. But wouldn't care if they just punished the coaches. They're the true wrong doers. And screw LL if they let this fly, only to turn around and hammer the team. AND, I have no doubt that major butthurt got this whole thing rolling.
I'd have to imagine though, that as a coach in one of those other districts, I'd be pissed if JRW tried to fence off some of my talent

I think a lot of white people who aren't racist are tired of this shite where black people are always victims and play the race card when a black person or persons are the ones in the wrong.
This story is a perfect example. A black team cheats, gets caught, is reprimanded, and now black people come out of the wood work to say these people are victims of racism when they are the ones who fricking cheated! They are blaming white people for it.
frick every single one of them who says that shite. They are the scum of the Earth.

I'm black and I agree with you. These idiots are always playingthe race card instead of holding people accountable. I just disagree with the thought that there would be no racism if Sharpton, Jackson, and others like them were gone.
