According to many here, a stretch of the ball doesn't count as a football move if you are falling down. Therefore if the ball comes loose at any point while hitting the ground, it's incomplete. A defender knocking it out is what he is supposed to do and certainly doesn't change the rule.

Good grief, if that was a catch (it was) then Dez's was as well.

ummm

He did catch it through the ground.

Just accept it. Dez did not make a catch.

Hell, y'all shouldn't have even been in this game.

Just be happy that y'all were gifted last weak.

End zone is the difference. If he had legal possession for just a fraction of a second with the ball in the end zone then it is a score

To quote Cowboy fans last week, it was only one play, it didn't lose you the game

Neither did Moore

Besides, the ref specifically said he made a football move in that game.

Yes he did. Dez had possession of the ball with his right elbow on the ground.

For Moore, The fact that the ball was well over the goal line has a lot to do with it. Once the ball crosses the goal line, the play is over.

Ok so if Dez crosses the goal line he doesn't have to control the ball through the ground?

Nope, same rules apply in the endzone.

He did lose it, then he regained control of the ball while on the ground making it a touchdown.

I was going to bring up that play, but I didn't think it was comparable enough.

Moore is CLEARLY reaching the ball forward. I think Dez was, but it's certainly not as clear-cut.

Also, the fact that the ball was already across the plain of the end zone will matter to people, although I'm not so sure it should.

This thread delivers. And shows just how little some people know about the rules.

At what point? He had possession, rolled on around on the ground, crossed the goal line. It isn't the sametype of play.

Dez literally fell on the ground and dropped the ball.

Moore landed on the ground. Stretched the football. Crossed the goal line. Rolled over again. Was then touched by another player while on the ground. Then after all of that the defender kicked it out of his hands which was clearly after he would have been ruled down by contact or by crossing the goal line.

Cowboys are melting!

This is incorrect, a player in the process of making a catch still must possess it through to the ground even after it has crossed the goal line. The Calvin Johnson play is one such play.

...unless they make a football move, which Moore did.

So the refs in that report said it was conclusive to them Dez did not make an act common to the game. So in their opinion it was 100% clear he didn't extend for the endzone. I disagree but Green Bay still wins. They would have scored with ease

They distinguish that one because he had control and crossed the line

The play is over before it is kicked out

So if ball crossed the goal line when Dez reached out it would be a catch if everything else still happened? That makes no sense at all. If it's not a catch anywhere else on the field then it shouldn't be a catch just because it crossed the goal line. Though I do believe Dez play was a catch and football move just arguing semantics.
