Considering the alternative, yes it is. IMO

We have to beat CK once, today is best shot.

Today vs Wednesday?

I'll talk short rest...no question
Not quite that simple; that's just one part of the equation.

Obviously, we will have to face Grienke now - when we might not have had to previously.

We still HAVE to win both games, must beat CK. It's really that simple....

I mean if the question is do I want to face Ricky Nolasco on full rest/Kershaw on full rest or Kershaw on short rest/Greinke on full rest, I definitely want the former. Especially with Freddy Garcia pitching tonight

The Dodgers were also 19-14 when Kershaw pitched in the regular season. He's the best pitcher in the world, but it's not like it's an automatic loss

One big complication here: Kershaw threw 126 pitches over seven innings in his Game 1 victory. That’s his second highest total ever as a pro. It wasn’t the most strenuous of 126-pitch outings — the Dodgers won 6-1 — but I’d feel better about things if he had thrown 100-110 pitches instead.

All things considered, this might be the most fatigued start of Kershaw’s life. He’s already thrown 243 innings this year, and now he’s on three days’ rest after an unusually lengthy outing. And with that fatigue has to come an increased risk of injury. Whether that increase is one percent, 10 percent or 100 percent, I won’t claim to know, but it’s there. The safer play would be to let Kershaw pitch on extra rest in a possible Game 5.

And Kershaw has never started on 3 days rest before

I like this move for LA despite Greinke being a headcase.

Not sure I would be all "fap-fap, we already beat Greinke. Simple; we will do it again" if I were a Braves fan like every one here seems to be.

Nolasco is terribly mediocre. Gap between rest & no-rest Kershaw is smaller than the gap between Greinke & Nolasco

Throwing CK today may set the Dodgers up better in the NLCS, but from a Braves perspective, this is great news.

I can understand telling yourself this as a fan, but no it isn't "great news" for the Braves. They still face Kershaw and now would face Greinke instead of Nolasco. Their chances of winning this series did not improve with this announcement.

If I were a Dodger fan, I would not like the move.

Keep playing it like its just like the regular season, Frediot.

At least one of the managers in this series realizes he's in the fricking playoffs.

They didn't get worse IMO.

All this being said, in our position...I throw Medlen tonight and Minor Wedensday.

Nolasco has a 3.50 ERA with the Dodgers over 87 innings, he may be a step below Kershaw but he is better than Freddy Garcia and should be enough for a Dodgers win

I wouldn't like this move for either team.

It means the Braves are more likely to lose and Kershaw is going to build extra fatigue

5.10 ERA in 140+ career innings against the Braves for Nolasco

Yes, it does

We were facing Kershaw either way

We get him on two days shorter rest after throwing a frick ton of pitches

If we win we face a Greinke at home that we have already beat this series with our number 1 going w full rest

We very well may lose tonight but we have a way better chance of winning the series bc of this move

One team is throwing the best pitcher in baseball and would throw one of the best pitchers in Game 5; one team is throwing a guy who started the year out of baseball, then got cut by the Orioles a few months ago.

And his last 3 starts were:
1.1 IP - 5 ER
5.0 IP - 6 ER
5.2 IP - 6 ER

He has always been a bigger headcase than Greinke.

I agree with this as well.

Our chances of winning tonight worsened, but winning the series became more likely IMO.

I am not arguing that the Dodgers pitching staff is inferior to the Braves.
