This also sets up Kershaw to start Game 2 of the NLCS on normal rest.

exactly. i mean he's never started on short rest, but this is the postseason. you have to use all your weapons.

the braves really don't have this luxury, so garcia is the only answer.

If Garcia beats Kershaw, I will seriously die of laughter.

Not going to happen but I will.

we still have no reason to. thats what im saying. i understand ricky gets rocked by the braves, but i dont like throwing kershaw on short rest when he has never done it before after he throw 120+ pitches

If we get past Kershaw tonight, then Greinke has to travel to hostile Turner Field and beat the Braves

we are facing freddy garcia. we will get enough runs on him. i dont know i just disagree with this decision considering how our offense has looked and the situation we are in. and ricky can come in for long relief if needed. this sets kershaw up for what? game 2?

yep. game 2 on normal rest. he'll throw twice in that series too.

ETA: hell, he may throw in 3 games at this point.

As a Braves fan, I love the move, it's best case scenario.

If, we won tonight, we would have no chance of knocking off Kershaw on full rest.

I guess Don likes Kershaw on short rest + Grienke on full better than Johnny Wholestaff + full rest Kershaw.

Really surprising, makes no sense IMO.

I've changed my mind in the last 30 mins...bring it on. I think it helps our odds to win the series. Now it's more likely we lose tonight, but if we win we face a pitcher we just beat in Atlanta in Atlanta. We had to go through Kershaw anyway so might as well do it on short rest. Their pen got a lot of innings last night and Kershaw just threw a lot of pitches so our goal should be just to keep grinding at bats tonight to tire him out early.

This exactly.

Throwing CK today may set the Dodgers up better in the NLCS, but from a Braves perspective, this is great news.

i wouldn't ever call facing Kershaw "great news", even if it is on short rest.

yea, but if he throws game 5 and we beat Ricky tonight, it's just false hope. now if we somehow beat him tonight, we have more of a chance of winning game 5 than before.

LET US BE OPTIMISTIC IN A SHITTY TIME, DAMMIT
