I wonder how many of these games were on without any other games.

I'd like to compare that to most watched regular season CFB games on CBS.

Game of the Century in 2011 was 20 million, followed by the 2009 SEC championship game at 18 million.

Kick Six was 13.5. 2019 Bama/LSU 16.5 million.

This tells me more about espn’s ability to get premier games than anything else. Their number 1 doesn’t even sniff the top ten across all networks.

It should be noted almost all of those are either opening weekend games, or early Sept big non conference matchups.

That Vatech Boise game was awesome btw.

The Ohio State vs VA Tech game was on Monday night, Labor Day.

IIRC, those were both standalone games on Labor Day night against top 3 opponents.

I'm trying to remember why that FSU/Miami game was so hyped up. Both teams had been mediocre for a few years by then. Miami had just been drubbed by LSU in the Peach Bowl the year before. And FSU won the ACC with four losses I think.

Was that Miami's first year in the ACC?

They were both still getting overranked in preseason based on their names and they were playing close nailbiter games during that period. It was also the year after the Jenn Sterger game.

Yes. Alabama had already been on CBS five times, which is the limit that a team is allowed to appear on CBS during the regular season.
