That $150 million is just in relation to CONCACAF, which the USA is a part of.

yes I understand that.

and I'm saying those bribes aren't large enough

that shite might work in piss-ant countries that have a tiny GDP but over here thats not anywhere close to enough to keep the heat off. $150 million may as well be a single political pac in a sea of hundreds. shite, it costs $100 million just to get an MLS franchise now. The next Presidential election is expected to cost a billion bucks for each candidate. FIFA has gotta spend more on protection money over here now that we kinda sorta care about soccer.

I'm just saying that's what they have found so far. Who knows how much the final total will be once everyone that has been arrested starts talking.

FIFA absolutely DWARFS the NFL in terms of “power”. They are in charge of the biggest sport in the world (by a wide margin) and they are a global organization with 100% power and control.

In terms of net worth or revenue, I have no idea how they compare. I would doubt the NFL has more, but I am not sure.

I'm not saying otherwise and I agree that FIFA overall dwarfs the NFL in power. However, soccer is not the dominant sport here thus FIFA did not see the need to spend more on bribes.

Do you really think the DOJ would be on their asses if various high ranking members of FIFA had been "donating" a shite ton of money over the years to various politicians on both sides via pacs that dont have to declare where the money has come from?

Hell to the nah.

Maybe the players will see the corruption and the human rights violations and declare their own boycott. get enough of the best players in the world to say that and then we can either replace the FIFA sanction World Cup with another one, or force their hand...

Its gonna be a shitshow regardless. Qatar can't hold the WC during the summer because its too hot, so they have to host it during the winter in the middle of most domestic leagues.

You should.

Aside from FIFA being the most powerful and corrupt sports organization world wide (seriously, the NFL and NCAA don't have shite on FIFA), there are literally thousands of migrant workers that will die building stadiums in Qatar. And I say migrant workers, but they're pretty much slaves.

So can we boycott it and not have to deal with this shite every 4 years?

FBI raids Miami Beach office of CONCACAF as part of international soccer investigation

The Justice Department’s focus on South Florida sharpened in late 2013 when Blazer — the general secretary for the Miami-based Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) — pleaded guilty to racketeering, fraud and money laundering conspiracies stemming from the bribery scheme. He agreed to turn over $1.9 million in illicit payments and to make a second payment upon his pending sentencing, according to federal court records.

Blazer also agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors in New York, pointing the finger at Hawilla, the owner of the Traffic Group, the Brazilian sports marketing giant that owns Traffic Sports USA in Miami. He pleaded guilty at the end of 2014 and agreed to forfeit more than $151 million in bribery payments, according to court records. He paid $25 million at the time of his plea agreement.
