re: Top 5 point guards in the NBA today

I think it is because my friend pre-season was saying how great Rose is. I thought Rose would have a breakthrough season this year, but not surpass the best point guards. I do not dislike Rose, but I do not want to call him the best. Maybe I just want to admit it to him, but I actually think other point guards may be marginally better.

That ain't saying much for Williams and Nash though.
It was for Williams when he was on Utah. Nash is leading a shitty team to a potential playoff birth in the West, so that impresses me.

Kobe has been great most playoffs but this is the wrong year to say that... game 7 of last year is still fresh in most people's minds
And it's a shame that people ignore what he did the rest of the series (and even that he had 15 rebounds in that last game) for that one last game.

it's how people judge you if you are in the all time great discussion... or even if you are not
I had never seen Kobe mentally fold as much as he did in game 7 last year. I think it was probably because he wanted the game so badly... but the justification or rationalization doesn't change what happened

But you can't deny that he did ultimately help his team win. It wasn't like the rest of the team was hot from the field either. He played pretty damn good defense that entire series as well.

For my money it's Rondo. He is one of the only players that I am consistently wowed by in the league today.

of course he helped his team win
it was just shocking to see him play so far below his usual level. And the moment late in teh game when he was slumped underneath the basket was hard to believe.
I was just shocked to see him not look mentally strong at that point. To his credit he appeared to give Gasol a lot of credit for picking up the team in the win
I don't think Kobe is the player that Jordan is... but had he failed in that manner I don't know that Jordan's ego would have permitted the same admission or giving of credit to someone else

I'll say this... if Derrick Rose gets the MVP this year, CP got SHAFTED a few years back.
The difference is that D Rose is in 1st place in the east behind his lead. Where was CP? I know the spurs had home court in the second round that year. ANd yes, Kobe deserved the MVP in 08.

Rondo?
I don't see how he can even be in the top 4.

Hornets lost game 7 in New Orleans.

1 game behind the Lakers for the #1 seed. So, if the Hornets win 1 more game, then Paul was more deserving?

It's crazy how close the west was that season
1.Los Angeles Lakers (57–25, clinched Pacific Division title, and home court advantage for the Western Conference playoffs)
2.New Orleans Hornets (56–26, clinched Southwest Division title, winning conference record tiebreaker over Spurs)
3.San Antonio Spurs (56–26)
4.Utah Jazz (54–28, clinched Northwest Division title)
5.Houston Rockets (55–27, winning conference 6.record tiebreaker over Suns)
Phoenix Suns (55–27)

My bad, for some reason i thought game 7 was at the spurs.

Depends on how much credit you give defense.

Shut Up
You have said Lebron isn't good in the playoffs before because he has a relatively bad game compared to his extraordinary games every now and then. He has constantly been on playoff teams without legit elite threats beside him.
You forget Kobe has played in the playoffs with Shaq, Gasol, Bynum, and Odom in their prime in the playoffs.
I would put Paul at the top because he is the best all around player. He can score from anywhere, make all the passes, and is probably the best defensive pg.
Paul
DWill
Rose
Westbrook
Nash
Rondo

1) Rose
2) Westbrook
3) Williams
4) Paul
5) Nash
Anyone who still has Paul in the top 2 is kidding themselves.
