Nick Saban
Bob Stoops
Les Miles

Mack Brown is another coach that shouldn't have his accomplishments overlooked, despite the 2010 record. Maybe he is just a recruiter, but not every coach has won at Texas. The Longhorns weren't in the best of shape when he arrived in 1998.

Rebuttal?
Even a garbage can gets a steak every now and then. It remains to be seen If petrino will build on that success and become a great coach. Like Les Miles, he will have to get a higer-profile coaching position and win a NC.

Beilema and Patterson can suck it. Wisconsin hasn't won shite and Tcu plays a soft schedule.
Beilema has maintained Wisconsin at arguably a higher level than Barry Alvarez ever had UW at. I realize Alvarez essentially built the Badger program, but Beilema has been very successful at UW. I would love to see what he could do with a better talent base to draw from.
Garry Patterson has more than maintained what Dennis Franchione built in Fort Worth. Small school or not, Patterson is a winner. I don't think gambling on a winner in small conference is any different than gambling on a guy like Les Miles that had an average coaching record, prior to coming to Baton Rouge.

I don't think he's awful, but I just can't find a single reason to put him above Stoops.

The biggest difference is Petrino has ZERO titles, sec or national.

Saban, Stoops, Petrino. Any of them would get the job done at any viable school.

I have the Score like this:
Les Miles (1a)
Nick Saban (1b)
Bob Stoops (3)
All of that is gonna change this year you can bet. Les (according to most of you rantards) over-achieved with the talent he had. And Alabama was supposed to repeat as NC according to the Rant this time last year. And of course they are gonna win it this year also (with a much weaker team).
So under-achieving or over-achieving? The last time I checked one of those gives more credit to coaching ability, some call it luck. Whatever you like, its been happening for several years now down in BR.

I'm sorry. Call me a biased homer, but how can you even put Saban and anyone else as even right now. The guy is the only coach to win two poll titles at two different schools since 1936. Nevermind his recruiting prowess. Mind you, I'm not knocking on Les Miles. You have to respect what he's maintained at LSU. There's a lot to be said for that.

Saban
Mack Brown(.855 win % at home, .882 win % away since 2000)
Gary Patterson
Then, in no order, you have Stoops, Miles, and Beamer...

First, any fanbase is going to drink the kool-aid when you open in the polls that high. I called for 12-2 all last summer, but in the back of my mind wanted to media to be right about repeating. Second, I'm not sure how returning 17 starters is a "weaker" team. Of all opposing fans, those from LSU should know that a great Nick Saban team starts and ends with a smothering defense, veteran offensive line, and strong running game.

No, he is the biased homer in this situation.
It's proven by the various threads he's started here, nothing but blind homerism...

The biggest difference is Petrino has ZERO titles, sec or national. Including a coach without a title is plain stupid.
