Good to see Fox's picture quality still sucks

I was just thinking the same thing. What I don't get is the quality on FS1 earlier today was great. You would think FOX would be the same or better.

Joe Buck sure as hell aint Jim Nantz. They need to find someone to replace his arse. I would rather Mike Tirico than Joe Buck.

When I played Erin Hills exactly 2 years ago (I watched DJ miss his putt at Chambers Bay in the club house at EH), I bought an Erin Hills hat for my then 6 month old daughter. I bought a toddler hat so that she could hopefully wear it with me when we watched the US Open 2 years later. I busted that hat out today so she could try it on and it fit like a glove. She liked it so much that she refused to take it off and kept asking me if we could watch golf...which I obliged.

This gets overused, but...

I know nothing about golf but it looks like the golfers won over the course yesterday. If it doesn't rain or blow or something they are going to end up with scores like in the John Deere Classic or something

Day 1 recap: Bunch of amateurs and Rickie play well. Some blimp goes crashing down. Also, E. Coli shows up. And, fescue.

There's other things the USGA can do. I'll be absolutely shocked if the winning score is double digits under par.

Rain would make scores lower. Sun and wind is what the USGA is hoping for.

Also remember scores are in relation to par. This is a par 72. Ricky was two shots higher than Jack and Weiskopf's minus 7.

Yea, scores will come back down as the course hardens up. This course rewards you for great shots and penalizes you for bad ones, just like the US open should. There's nothing wrong with some low scores if the guys play flawlessly like Rickie did yesterday. There are still some world class players out there getting beat up by the course right now.

I don't want it to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rickie falls back to earth this afternoon with a +1 or +2 round.

That's a good point. They could have easily taken #1 and #14 and made them in to Par 4's like they typically do and the scores relative to par would be a few shots worse.

I don't think the USGA is that worried about the course at this point. As long as it's still bunched up on Sunday afternoon, they'll be happy.
