Coffee to me was a get the hell up the field as fast as I can guy though. But I see what you're saying. Sometimes I think about what other RBs would do playing for Alabama. Like that guy from VT a couple years back. Ryan something? Anyways...he was a beast. But can you imagine what he would have looked like behind Alabama's line? His entire story and hype would be different leading up to the draft. Although he'd be the same player.

Who else were they going to prop up? Golson is just a freshman. He'll be a media SUPERSTAR by the time he's through there.

I'm excited for this. The next chapter of the media hyping ND. I don't think he's half the QB that the media thinks he is.

Remember when Golden Tate and Michael Floyd were basically the A.J. Green and Julio Jones of the Midwest?

Sure do. Although I don't think they're as bad as Te'o and Golson. But I certainly remember the media wanting me to think that they were the best WRs ever

I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous attention that whole story turned out to be.

What kind of attention should the story have received? All freaking season we heard about the fricking heart wrenching story of Teo losing his GF.

How should it have been covered? ESPN: "You know that story of Manti Teo's dead girlfriend that we talked about ALL SEASON? Well, none of it was true. Now, in WNBA news........"

Had they not pimped this kid and the story of the girl's death constantly from day one, then the fact that she never existed wouldn't have been a story at all.

Not to mention that ESPN and Notre Dame reportedly knew the truth BEFORE the NC and they chose to sit on it. If Deadspin doesn't cover it, we don't hear about it at all.

He means baggage as in more likely to be thrown in the clinker. What's more risky to a team - guys getting arrested repeatedly? Or a guy who was catfished? Seems obvious.

Who would you rather have: Pacman Jones or Ryan Leaf?

Character DOES matter

Not an overreaction at all. That "story" netted him SEVEN College Football postseason awards in which far more deserving players were denied:

Butkus - Jarvis Jones
Bednarik - Jadeveon Clowney/Jarvis Jones/Damontre Moore
Lombardi - Jadeveon Clowney/Damontre Moore
Maxwell - Johnny Manziel
Lott - Jadeveon Clowney/Jarvis Jones/Damontre Moore
Bednarik - Jadeveon Clowney/Jarvis Jones
Walter Camp - Johnny Manziel

What a goddam shame that overhyped dope beat out those dudes. Wow.

Can you imagine if Johnny Manziel put up last year's numbers as a RS Freshman at Notre Dame?

McShay irritates the hell out of me. Why ESPN has promoted him as some draft expert I do not understand.

They need a foil for Mel Kiper. Somebody he can "debate" choices with. The same way Skip and Stephen need each other.

Embrace Debate.

indeed, only a simpleton would find that story entertaining.

a dumbass, sheltered kid gets played by a gay dude? yaawn.

Teo is an idiot, but the dude doesnt have baggage. Will make a great teammate, practice hard, stay out of trouble, etc

NFLN talking some sense right now

Casserly and Heath have him possibly going into the 3rd round and Admitted Minter and Bostic are better LBs than Teo

They (ESPN) did make a statement that debate is an integral part of sports. Not an integral part of covering sports, but an integral part of sports.

But it was a good story when we all thought the girl existed?

When it all comes out that it was a complete load of horseshite, we're just supposed to ignore it?

Gotcha

And suck balls come game day.

He's a clown, and he's the most overrated player in the history of CFB.

We4ll to be fair, ESPN created most of that baggage for Teo. It was not that big of a deal. ESPN made it news for like a month straight.

His Heisman campaign was built on that lie. I wish he had won it, because the scandal would really have been thermonuclear and the embarrassment to ND potentially worse.

Can someone please answer why ESPN feels the need to personally pimp Te'o?

I hate Teo and ESPN for pimping him, but you better believe Teo falling will have a lot more people watching.

ESPN says Teo is a likely pick, everyone laughs, Teo doesn't get picked, everyone says ESPN is stupid, everyone keeps watching to see what team does draft him.
