Surely, just another coincidence friends.

quote:

According to multiple sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, those discussions have resumed with a view to Boehly and Walter selling their personal 12.8 per cent shareholdings to Clearlake, who are majority shareholders with a 61.5 per cent stake.

Last week, just 14 months after buying a majority interest in the Los Angeles Lakers for $10billion, Walter unexpectedly sold the team to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger at a record $12.5billion valuation, against the backdrop of a United States Department of Justice investigation into his business dealings.

Federal investigators are investigating insurance companies Walter owns. Walter did not respond to messages seeking comment for a story into the probe published by The Athletic on Monday, and federal officials at the agencies conducting the probe declined to comment.

There is a difference between the micro and the macro

At the micro level, every individual is allowed to do what they want with their property. But at the macro level, you’re downright delusional if you think the “private equitification” of sports won’t suck for the average sports fan

I heard a rumor that GMC may take over the Cadillac F1 racing team because TWG Global, the parent group behind the Cadillac F1 Team, is facing financial and legal scrutiny due to an FBI investigation targeting co-founder Mark Walter. The probe focuses on billions of dollars in private-credit loans and disclosure rules tied to Walter's insurance businesses.

The Dodger threads have more on it but word is that he has to get $20b in loans off his books by the end of December or the Feds will frick him raw.

Hence divesting himself of the Lakers and other assets because getting cash right now is about the only way to pull it off. The Lakers sale only generated about 1/3 of what he needed.
