It's going to be a long football season, and I highly suggest considering opting-out of watching this year.

LSU and Saints fan have been spoiled. We had to watch total crap for decades before the teams started getting good. Real fans won’t quit on the team after one mediocre season.

Nonsense. There’s a quitter in each of us. If your team is losing 50-3 in the 4th quarter, what’s wrong with leaving early? The outcome is determined and you want to beat traffic and save some of your time. You don’t get a loyalty medal for sticking around.

Sports is entertainment. If a game is not entertaining, i find something else to do.

Saints look much improved from week 2.

LSU has 2 games to figure out how not to get embarrassed in the swamp

I’ve made it through much worse as a fan of both teams. Saints are 1-2 and still have a ton of time left. They looked much improved from Monday night.

LSU isn’t winning shite, but you’ll have years like this.

Some of us need to step back and realize we’ve been spoiled.

Leaving a game before clock hits zero because the outcome is no longer in question is not the same thing as quit rooting for and stop watching your team because you lost a game or two.

The President/Administration at ULM is perfectly fine with hitting athletics with a crow bar and letting it die a slow death.

The previous President at UL (or ULL or USL, whatever, I'm not getting into a dumb name debate) did the same thing there for 25+ years.

Sometimes I find it fun to laugh at ULM, but other times I can't help but feel sorry for their athletes, coaches and fans of their sports teams who want to see them succeed, while the "leaders" at that university are sabotaging their efforts.

Meh. Saints will be fine. Esp when Thomas returns.

LSU has a McGuffin as far as this year. Flags fly forever. Personally, the wife is an Aggie so it is a one game season for me this year.

What’s the deal with the shaming of quitting when it comes to sports? If a person voluntarily chooses to be a fan, why is it wrong for him if he choose to stop being a fan? We all have individual choices and the right to change our minds.

The only thing you should be loyal to is your time. We all have a fixed amount of time. You shouldn’t waste 3 hours of your time if the product is crap. The team should work to earn it(like a give/take relationship). I don’t blindly give up my time just because “it’s my team”. It’s 2020 and there are plenty of entertainment options but still only 24 hours in a day.

I was a fan of LSU pre-Saban and a fan of the Saints pre-Payton/Brees

I think I can handle a couple of regular season losses after the past 2 decades which have been the best times to be a fan of either team. Yall need to chill

How about no.

Well, for LSU at least.

For the Saints I'll watch when I can but I don't set my schedule around the games.

Sure, but you’ll never be able to truly experience the joy of a 2019 LSU season or a Saints’ Super Bowl win. The sweet’s just not as sweet without the sour. You have to have gone through the struggle.

Luckily for me, I have already lived through the struggle of the mid 80s Braves and their perennial 100-loss seasons and saw them win a World Series and go to 3 or 4 more in the midst of winning like 15 straight division titles. I struggled with the Saints from the end of the Mora era, the embarrassment of the Ditka era, and the utter mediocrity of the Haslett era after his 1st season when they won their 1st playoff game, including that ‘05 Katrina season where they went 3-13 and played home games in Tiger Stadium.

Speaking of Tiger Stadium, I was in there at the end of the Archer era, through all of Curley, and the quick losing of the magic Dinardo temporarily restored before Saban finally got there.

I’m super lucky that Ive gotten to see my 3 favorite teams win championships, LSU even 3. And none of them would have been as sweet without the sour of the struggles. Anything else is lagniappe, so I will continue to watch no matter what. Saturday’s beatdown at the hands of State would have sent me into a 5-day depression 20 years ago. Not anymore. In fairness, being a father does put things into perspective. I care much more about how my son takes the losses than I do.

I watched Saints and LSU football in the mid to late 90s. This ain't shite.
