VW played for Asvel, which is owned by Tony Parker. Could definitely see the Spurs asking him to be a mentor and liaison between VW and the front office going forward to keep him happy.

Those rumors about Tony and Brent Barry’s ex-wife won’t make it easy. Brent is current Vice president of basketball operations

Nah. TP was on the Spurs for like 10 years after those rumors. He's always welcomed back in SA. I don't see him wanting an formal role with the team though.

I actually didn't know Brent Barry had a role in the front office. You might be right.

Nah. The NBA has transformed and Popovich's style can't cut it anymore. He overplayed his hand with Kawhi Leonard, pissed him off and he bolted. Pop will most likely do it again and lose this new kid in a few years before really developing.

Plus, no one really, really wants to play in San Antonio. It's basically Northern Mexico with very little diversity where virtually no NBA superstars, US or foreign born, want to live.

Wemby wants to play in San Antonio. He tweeted "Today was a good day" after the lottery. The Spurs are the most popular team in France bc of Tony Parker and Diaw, he grew up a fan. The pro team he was playing for in France is owned by Parker and basically affiliated with the Spurs, so there's established relationship. Spurs likely bring Parker back in to the front office for him, Tim Duncan and Manu are also there to help guide and mentor him, plus the Admiral is still around the team a lot. He gets to play for the best coach in NBA history.

Spurs will have a nice little lineup next year with him

Tre Jones
Devin Vassell
Jeremy Sochan
Wemby
Collins

Keldon Johnson 6th man
Branham

A little weak at PG and C, but the Spurs will have a ton of cap space to work with to attract a FA, and they still own the rights to all their future draft picks. The future is bright for San Antonio

Spurs are back, baby

I was at a restaurant on the river walk and this one dude went absolutely ape shite. The people I was with thought he must have won a ton of money to be happy but they didn’t get what just happened and that spurs fans are pretty passionate.

People are really sleeping on Vassell, Sochan, and Branham, in particular.

Victor Wembanyama will be the face of the Spurs franchise especially when the team makes the relocation to Austin where they will be contending for championships in the Moody Center.
