It’s even like that for Ivys too
I was a tennis player, yes a measly tennis player, and I got accepted to multiple ivys wit a 3.7 and 30 on the ACT
Navy also had me go through to physical screening and assured me entrance as well
ETA: I also have zero minority status and had no real extracurriculars

Eh, lacrosse is a predominantly white, upper middle class sport. Most of the big programs are very good academic schools. Duke, John's Hopkins, Syracuse, etc. So they might be at a state school without it, but a lot of football players wouldn't even be at a community college without football.
The way they talk about it
Going to a state school over where they went (Johns Hopkins, Duke and UVA-yes i know it’s a state school )
Going to a School like Maryland or South Carolina would have been on the same level as a community college

quote:Sherman isnt a complete academic moron
But...Stanford!
He is average, as shown by his test scores
However, there is nothing worse than an average or dumb person thinking they are intelligent
Case A: Richard Sherman
Case B: LeBron James
Case C: Any hollywood celebrity

FWIW, The Princeton review has a conversion chart that shows the equivalent ACT score in relation to the actual SAT score. They say that a 990 = 19 on the ACT
ETA - I now see that this has already been posted.

You sure sound like you don’t care.

Yep. We also did this thread before. Somehow, the media started a rumor Sherman made a 1400 on his SAT. Of course, it spread like fact. This was back when they were beating the drum how smart he was
Then, someone went to his old Rivals profile and pulled up his actual scores :
990 with 1060 on the retake

I honestly can’t believe there were people who thought Stanford didn’t lower the admissions standards for athletes
Did you people really think there was a Top 25 Power 5 football team of elite American students out there?

Remember when Stanford was on that good run a few years ago? Crazy to think that they found so many rocket surgeons that are also stud athletes
If it makes Darryl feel better, we don’t know if McCaffrey is smart either

What I read on some message board when I looked this up was that the Root article writer tried to "scale up" his SAT to the new system (2400, has a writing section) that came out in the late '00s, while keeping the 1600 divisor the same.
