If he's dominant, it won't matter where he's from.

Nadal and Fed got plenty of fans.

Young roRy won't replace t wizzy here with fans. But he's a nice distraction while Patrick Reed begins his ascent to the throne.

Tiger needs to stick to book signings and making public appearances at big events. Show up, smile, and shake some hands. His golf game is gone and he is a joke. Very sad but I would ask for an autograph at a book signing.

Is it just me or has tiger been way more casual in the last few months

In his public appearances, he seems way lighter than he used to, specifically his Marshawn Lynch comment last week after he missed the cut

Old tiger would not have been smiling at the podium after an 82

He REALLY has. I love it, but he isn't acting like the dickhead competitor he used to be.

He looks happy despite playing poor golf, I am glad he is able to relax a little more.

Golf does not need Tiger. Not the sport. Not the tour.

The time for that narrative has come and gone. It's just not the case.

Tell that to the WM Open who had 25,000 more people on Thursday and set attendance numbers M-W while Tiger was there. Thursday was in shite weather also.

And I know golf doesn't "need" Tiger anymore, but he certainly boosts everything to the next level.

Wasn't there another event going on in Phoenix last week? Some big game.

Wonder if that played a part.

Even if they didn't set records without Tiger the WM Open would have been 100% fine. Tournament would have went on.

This "new" Tiger persona is due to his fall from grace. When he was TIGER, he could & did literally tell everyone to frick off. Now, he needs all the support he can get from any source. The big difference with Jack playing so well as late as he did & Tiger's fall as this age is that Jack did not have major - surgery - required injuries, Jack did not have any huge body form transformations ( Tiger went all into the Navy Seal look for a good while ) and Jack did not go through swing coaches like Tiger did. And Jack was presumably faithful to his wife.

We were all talking about this earlier.

1 of these 3 things will happen. Or has to happen.

Tiger has to be open to changing his swing to put less torque in his back. If he does, it will take about 60 days to get right. He will win again doing this.

Tiger sticks with same swing changes. Just minor tweaks his swing. He will never win again doing this.

Tiger is doing this because he is burnt out and wants to leave the game. Using the back pain lets him step down due to injury instead of anything else.

Let's see
Option 1: Admit fault, work really hard, Profit
option 2: Do nothing, frick hoes, profit

Hmmm? Let me think about it for a bit

He needs to start taking pain killers again. Apparently he loved those things during year 2000 dominance.

Tiger will play in the PGA competitively until he's 60 unless he quits. Just 2 years ago he was POY and was playing great.

That would be 80 more majors.

Guy is far from done.

If that's true, I definitely don't get why he doesn't take a full year off and try to get as fully healthy as possible. Seems like he's being penny wise, pound foolish by forcing it.

Yeah, yeah, I know..."elite competitor" and whatnot but it seems like forcing himself to play instead of resting up isn't the best course of action. It's not like the world will forget about Tiger in a year.

I have no intentions of arguing over whether one of the best golfers to ever play is needed by the sport. It's an outlandish premise.

It's not outlandish though. And this is coming from a huge Tiger fan.

Tigers problem isn't a swing. He could swing a fricking branch with one arm and get on greens. He's never been extremely accurate off the tee. David Toms worst years in driving accuracy are better than Tigers best years.

Tigers problem is that he doesn't putt like he used to. Especially intermediate 15-20 feet. Per PGA tour stats his average made from that range dropped dramatically in 2009. He went from the 25-29% made to a 10-20% fluctuating range.
(caveat, he did put at a 29% clip in 2011 but only over 16 rounds)

I mean when was the last time you saw Tiger make a huge putt and said ah there is the fist pumping Tiger?
Everytime he's been in the hunt the last few years his putter has let him down.
