Yes, most were tailgating out of the back of a truck or in the trunk of a car. We set up 3 tent canopies with a couple of big screens and a sound system and they looked at us like a mule staring at a new gate.
But they loved it! They parted with us and gave us moonshine, we traded jambalaya for it.

I'm from northern VA so I explain our tailgate setup (satellite tv, PA system audio, couches, custom logos/banners/flags) to my friends back home and they're just shocked that anyone would put that at a tailgate. I had to explain to them that our tailgate is average at best when compared to the ones that happen at LSU.

Holy shite. I had no idea it was that bad for some people. I was there with a group of 9 other guys and we were all in decent shape. Maybe we just weren't targeted.

I had a great time in Morgantown, but some of the fans are very testy.

Uh yeah they burn couches and when we went in 2011 they punched a pregnant LSU fan....

Hillbilly, redneck, hayseed, in-breds .... Pretty scary scene. Seemingly controlled - loud, distasteful, mayhem disguised as college football tailgaiting.

I think you misunderstood. He was asking about WVU, not LSU fans.

Complete shite hole. Their fans are some of the worst I have ever encountered. The Big 12 should be ashamed of themselves.

TTU are BY A MILE the worse I've ever experienced. Bitches threw, on purpose, into my 11 y/o daughters face. I was in a separate part of the stadium and by the time I got there the pussy left. frick them.

I feel the exact same way, but of course I am biased having gone to Maryland for school. Nonetheless, West Virginia gets the same guido element from New Jersey that makes our (Maryland) fan base look terrible too. However, West Virginia is also comprised of a bunch of white trash cousin lovers, which makes their fan base sooooo much worse.

Like a lot of others here, I attended the game in 2011. In general, I found the trip enjoyable, as there are just a lot of unique aspects to visiting that part of the country in general. the campus is split into a couple of different locations and has a train system connecting them. good number of bars and restaurants in the area of campus, so that made for a pretty easy gameday experience.

the tailgating scene was vibrant and had espn gameday and tons of folks around. I remember a lot of people, but the parking was widely distributed and the whole thing just didn't lend itself to hauling a lot of equipment and tents in like we do at LSU.

the single negative that I saw was a good number of WVU fans cruising around and actively trying to pick fights both before the game outside and even during the game in the stadium....gameday banter between opposing fans is one thing, but this was a whole different level. That single game turned my opinion away from allowing alcohol sales during college football games.

in fact, if I remember right, the SEC was trying to add another member and the conflict between fanbases looked to tip the opinion to Missouri instead.

have to say, watching the fog roll in over the endzone of that stadium as we took control of the game is one of my fondest away game memories.

That was amazing, and it was almost like they planned it! It was right as the 4th quarter started, and "For whom the bell tolls" began to play right as the fogged started creeping in.

The stadium was very cool, kinda built into the side of a mountain/hill. It was loud, considering it only holds around 65,000 people.

Fun but don't expect respectful banter. 'Geaux Tigers' Resulted in 'F.U.' almost every time.

Don't care for the people, but I found the topography of Morgantown to be captivating.

All the hills sucked for walking around and tailgating. Tailgated in the parking lot behind a drs office. Drank moonshine and watched a bunch of toothless hill billys sing country road. Sat in the corner of the endzone. Drank good beer while in the stadium. Ill never forget the looks on the student sections faces after mo broke their hearts. Went to a pirates game the night before. Awesome trip.

I've lived in wv.

I couldn't work out with visiting my friends and us going to that game in wv. A few respectable people I know that did go. Professionals drs lawyers etc said it was really bad. The comments in this thread aren't bogus and are exactly what I was told.

This is crazy to hear. Not saying I don't believe it because I completely do. I just didn't realize how bad it was. Especially considering how LSU has a reputation as being a bit boisterous and loud. So to hear LSU say this about another fan base must mean that fan base is REALLY bad and obnoxious.

It was pretty lively, mostly intense drinking. Not the ingenuity in tailgating like LSU. I was hoping they were part of the SEC expansion instead of Missouri for selfish reasons (only a 3 hour drive from my house).
