I'm dropping my brother off at WVU in Morgantown but I've only been here about 3 times and never for a gameday. I'm curious about what it's like generally and compared to LSU according to a fan base that literally probably has seen it all. Especially because LSU has experienced it recently. Thoughts?

I had a great time in Morgantown, but some of the fans are very testy. The only time we had any issue was walking into the stadium. The tailgating was a good time, although they start pretty late. The stadium experience was awesome for a night game

What was the general setup tailgating wise? Did you see crazy devices and setups like in the SEC? In my head I feel like they're mostly back of the car, parking lot tailgaters.

It's a fun and rowdy atmosphere for sure, but the fans are total douchebags.

Completely untrue. I went in 11 and had a blast. They do have a bunch of sidewalk fans who are terrible, but so do we. Morgantown was fun and most of the fans were good peopl.

Bunch of hill billies with their musket arse selves. Sore losers. If they had purple and webbed feet they would be LSU fans.

My friends who went were physically assaulted, spit on, ect. Thank goodness their idiot Jersey Shore fanbase (seriously, a large percentage of their fans are actually from New Jersey for some reason) doesn't know how to make a proper piss balloon.

I think there's definitely a lot of sidewalk fans. Even their students almost. Their starting safety went down today and my brother and all of his friends had no idea who it was. And my best friend goes here as well and him and all of his friends hardly know anyone outside of the quarterback and Dana. Hell we have more heated discussions about our defensive backs coach and who does our radio play by play than they have over their head football coach.

Hillbilly, redneck, hayseed, in-breds .... Pretty scary scene. Seemingly controlled - loud, distasteful, mayhem disguised as college football tailgaiting.

Sounds like bullshite. Everyone "knows someone" that stuff happens to but I actually went.

We went out before and after the game and didn't get into anything. We were taunted but we weren't dumb enough to run our mouths. It's like if a Bama fan went into Reggies and got pissed off if he got tigerbaited.

Complete shite hole. Their fans are some of the worst I have ever encountered. The Big 12 should be ashamed of themselves.

Did they try and throw their cigarette butts at your friends grandmothers oxygen tank?

If not WV fans are pussies

Took my daughter in 2011, and it was disgusting. The foul language and derogatory remarks were shocking. We had a few nice WV families sitting behind us that protected us and promised us they had our backs. We were close to the WV student section, so that probably added to the mayhem. Neither me nor my daughter would ever go there again.
Having said that, it was a terrific game and a big win for our tigers!

I'm pretty sure there was a very bad post-game parking lot incident that was reported in the press where an LSU fan was severely injured.

To be totally fair. We definitely don't have the best reputation in terms of being totally courteous and non vulgar. So for LSU fans to say this they must be pretty awful. I'm in college so my opinion is unless they're elderly, children or women if you can't take it then don't dish it. It doesn't particularly bother me to talk some smack but obviously there are certain crowds you just don't do it to.

Born and raised 29 yrs in Louisiana, LSU grad 95-99, spent 2006-2014 in Motown (bartender from 2007-2014, dental school from 2010-2014), the town exist because of the University minus 2 hospitals and a pharm corp Milan, football tailgating is respectful when compared to schools outside of the SEC, the road infrastructure and hills add a challenge getting around during game days, tailgating does start late compared to LSU, but the students and locals are very into WVU sports when they have good records, very cool local bars spread across the town, my wife is born and raised in Motown, we will be there for the Missouri game (Labor Day) , I can give you some guidance if you would like

I went in 2011. I went to LSU my Cousin went to WVU. He came to the game in BR. He got more tigerbaits in BR than chants I got in Morgantown. He was impressed with the scope and length of Lsu tailgating. He also admitted our coeds were way better looking. Their tailgating was about 1/4 the size of ours. It seemed like the only flat piece of land in Morgantown was the football field. We got a $6 ticket for parking facing out in a city parking lot.

Wore a LSU cap everyday I bartended, they try and talk shite but you can shut them up quickly, truly they hate only PIT , and will try keep up partying with anyone, unfortunately a lot of students are from Jersey (cheaper to go to WVU as an out of state than to go to in state schools) they will be easy to pick out the crowds just stay away from that ignorance
