Whether fans are buying a $1.50 hot dog, purchasing merchandise or even a game ticket — cash will no longer be accepted. The goal is to dramatically speed up transactions to keep fans from spending unnecessary time waiting in lines.

It's bullshite and doesn't actually speed up times b/c the time it takes for the transaction to go through is pretty much the same as what it takes to get your change. Also, have fun if (and at some point they will) the machines go down.

Will going cashless eliminate those who wait to decide what to order until they are at the counter? Or those who wait until the total is given to them before rooting through their purse/wallet for their card/cash?

Wichita tried this a few years ago and it turned out to be a bad idea. It lasted only a season. They sold gift cards at the gate for the folks that carried cash. There are enough old geezers out there that only carry cash that watch baseball to change the club’s mind. I like the idea, because I rarely carry cash anymore.

Went to ACL last year and you set up wristbands that are connected to your bank that just auto debits for all purchases inside the event, which when used correctly is incredibly effective and easy

Problem is most people are stupid and still spend 5 minutes not having a clue on how to use them

The last thing I wanna do when I enter an arena is go purchase a gift card in case I want to buy concessions.

I don’t always carry cash, but when I go to games I make sure to load up. Why? Parking. I’ve never been able to swipe a card to enter a lot. So it’s not a big deal for me to carry extra cash for concessions and whatnot.

It is so much easier for me to go to a program vendor or beer vender and hand them a 10 or 20 than it is to swipe, wait, enter pin, wait, then be given the ok to take my food.

I don't understand people in a long line who wait until they are at the register to take out their wallet.

Sounds like a scam for arenas to make more money.

You probably can only buy gift cards in certain increments, while the price of the food stays the same. At the end of the day you get screwed with leftover money you didn't spend

Studies show people who spend plastic instead of green spend more.

I believe stadiums are doing this to increase revenue. People spend more when using plastic vs cash.

It is not to speed up concessions. Just watch people swipe or put the chip in incorrectly; then wait to put in their pin; then enter the tip amount on the screen and wait for the receipt. It’s much easier to order 2 beers and hand the bartender $25 and have her keep the change.

I'd rather them get rid of the stupid security lines that do nothing but creAte a bottleneck so that some crazy frick can start shooting or set a bomb off where 10000 people are crammed into a 100'x100' space. Here is looking at you Superdome/NFL.

And ATMs. A normal ATM transaction should take no more than 2 minutes but for some reason I always get stuck behind some idiot that takes at last triple that.
