well the point is to win the national title, unfortunately the system in place only allows teams like TCU, Boise, Utah before their move to the Pac 12 to have to settle with a 13-0 and a win in a meaningless bowl game.

Can you construct some more straw men to plow down?
I think regular season's should matter. The season in FBS is the one that matters the most. The result of a larger sample are better.

See, the thing I don't get is how they (Mushburger, etc) were saying last night how Boise's schedule is set up for them to make a NC run since they don't have any quality opponents this year. Well if that's true, how can we ever know how good Boise really is if they never play a LSU or Bama or Oklahoma? It's like when Hawaii played the Dogs--illusion, meet reality. Boise may be solid, but unless there's a bunch of 2 loss teams at the end of the year, their SOS should keep them from the NC game.

The BCS status quo will be much better after conference realignment is finished. 16 teams in the PAC, 16 teams in the SEC, and probably the same in the Big 10 plus whatever.
Conference winners match up in bowls, and there's your playoffs.

well an exhibition trophy, and all the exposure they get from the game itself, is better than sitting home that week

If you look at Hawaii that year, they not only played a weak schedule, they did not dominate it the way Boise and TCU have. Non AQ detractors love to bring up Hawaii, but it proves nothing. They were never ranked in the top 5 because everyone saw they were not that good.

I completely agree. I find no reason to be that excited about a bowl game victory. There is no allure to a bowl game, even a BCS one (excluding the title game). I mean, seriously, why the frick would you go around and brag that your team is the Fiesta Bowl champions? My interest in college football has dwindled because the only thing that matters is one game in January.

Its not just the top 5 ranking , of course if they had lost they would/should drop, as Oregon will, that's not what I mean. Boise detractors will not give them (or any non AQ) credit for anything they do. If they win, the excuses fly. Bama gets hammered by Utah, well its because Smith was suspended or they didn't care about the Sugar Bowl after losing to Fla. Boise beats VT, well VT is no good they lost to JMU. VT goes on to win 10 strait, well the ACC sucks. TCU beat Wisconsin, well Wisky was over rated the B1G sucks, etc, etc.

It's the same excuses after every game with Boise & TCU.
All I read on here for the last month was how UGA was going to skull frick them, but suddenly now they're not even going to finish with a winning record. Most rantards can't even tell you the correct conference that Boise is in this year, much less name the state they play in.
