another really cool thing I love about the BCS is how you get 6 weeks between your last game and the title game. That makes for very sharp play and really gets your showcase game to have two teams playing at their absolute best. It's a truly great setup

This is nonsense that completely devalues winning the title. If anything short of winning it all is a failure, then winning it is nothing special to be celebrated.
There are 27 schools that have won AP NC since 1936 when it started. They can't all win it each year.

Yeah, that is also complete bullshite. I think that is more due to exams, so if that is the reasoning, then I am cool with it. I also wish that the bowl games had more neutral venues in general. I wish there was one location in the SE, NE, SW, and NW, instead putting them across the South. I personally think that it puts the northern teams at such a disadvantage, and I would prefer to see a more level playing field for such "impactful" games.

i do wish this was cut down a little. there are too many bowl games, and they give shitty bowl games too much tv respect

well they bowls do want to sell out the games, so they kind of have to do this
plus its winter, which means it has to be a dome in the midwest, northeast, and northwest

IWhat makes winning the title special is its rare. If everything short of it is viewed as a failure, then what's special about winning the title?

they lay off does sucks, it however did not seem to affect USC and Texas. Florida and LSU did not look rusty vs tOSU either.

well at least the new orleans bowl can get their participants shortly after the season ends which gives us a truly epic matchup year in and year out

I was only referring to elite powerhouses who have a legitimate shot of winning the national title, not everyone. Obviously, not everyone has a reasonable chance to win it all. I am talking about the Oklahomas and Alabams of the world. If LSU does not win the national title this year, then this season was a failure, IMO.

that will still leave boise out, most likely
Perhaps. I'd love to see them in a good conference though.

Ford Field could sell out games, and the Lucas Oil Stadium could as well.

Ohio State looked pretty fricking rusty. Maybe they were overrated, but still, I want to see the two best teams perform at the highest level.

well if the big conferences keep combining, i doubt that happens, b/c the pac-x will rule the west, and BSU ain't gettin in
i still think that D1 needs to be split into a 3rd division. let BSU rule the middle division

Only 1 can win, there are a lot of factors that go into winning any one particular game.

If LSU's only loss is at Alabama, who goes on to win the title is that a "failure". If you think so, you standards are unrealistic and there is nothing special about winning the National Title.

possibly, b/c they're in big10 country, but you'd have to have big10 teams in those stadiums
the west isn't likely to do much outside of a few places in socal

They only take 2 weeks off between the CCG and the Super Bowl and there have been plenty of Super Bowls that were as compelling as the Florida-OSU BCS CG.

Not that impressive. Georgia lost to UCF last year and they are not good this year. Good win, but now they go back to the cupcake schedule of opponents. Not impressed.

I agree with a lot of your points on Boise, but I fail to see why you think the title game is not special to me. All games other than the title game are pretty insignificant. Ten years from now, no major program will be talking about their Fiesta Bowl victory in the 2011-2012 season. The only one that has significant standing is the national championship game.
If LSU does as your scenario suggests and only loses to the eventual champion, Alabama, then are you happy with this season?

Neither of these are why there is such a long layoff. Why should bowl games, even the lesser ones not be on TV? Almost all are on cable, CFB games, even ones featuring a 7-5 MAC team vs a 7-5 CUSA team is better than 99% of the other shite on TV.
