When asshats like JJ Reddick talk about not wanting to see basketball where they throw down to the blocks 30x per game, this is what he is needlessly bitching about.

Precision Passing and cutting, low post excellence, mid range floaters, blocks and the occasional good-look deep shot.

I mean, who wouldn't rather see iso-ball and hero ball man going 5 for 26 from three!

This isn't what is happening now.

Offensive sets are a lot more intricate now than they were in the 80's and 90's

Fun game. Not your typical dribble/pass around the perimeter for 30 sec then jack up a 3.

Purdue is 15 for 35 from the field, you're acting like it's working

Do you realize if the guys on the floor could make 3s like the people you are complaining about, then they would shoot way more 3s. Unfortunately these guys are much less skilled and require more of what you are describing to be effective.

Effective outside shooting creating spacing and analytics broke the old approach just like front 7 guys who are 280 and run a 4.5 broke the wishbone in football.

It is what it is.

Don't let facts get in the way, but I am going to point out to you that Purdue was 2nd in the NCAA in 3pt% behind Kentucky for the season.
You can do with that what you will, but I see a team trying to adjust to how they are being defended. It isn't necessarily working that well, but UCONN has just been better all around.

The team that does that gave UConn a much better game Saturday

Revisiting this, one team has 46 points with 5 minutes to go in the game, so yeah, I guess you're right, this is what basketball kinda looked like in the 90's.

Maybe I misunderstood him but I took this as a jab at the NBA so I was defending it that way.
