"Football coaching has been a wonderful career because it has brought me into contact with so many exceptional young people," Sandusky said. "The opportunity to impact the lives of the many student-athletes who've come through the program has been one of the great rewards for me. Penn State football is special because of the sense of family established by those associated with the program today and those players, coaches and staff who've been part of it over the years.

"He is someone who has set a tone in his professional and personal life that is an inspiration to everyone inside and outside the program. His success as a coach is authenticated by the numerous All-America players he has developed over three decades. His achievement as a human being is splendidly demonstrated by the thousands of youngsters he touches annually through The Second Mile.[/quote]

Well, if true, this might in some way explain why Second Mile continued to let Sandusky be a part of the charity and mentor the kids AFTER 2002 when Curley supposedly told them of the shower rape incident.

Its about to be Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Penn St if this is true. Im floored right now!

If true, this is going to make a lot of people reconsider college sports in general. I always thought the current financial spiral was unsustainable and that it would eventually come crashing down. But what kills it off may turn out to have nothing to do with money.

But I have to emphasize, IF TRUE. This is so explosive that I want to see some concrete evidence first.

At this point it's only a rumor fed by histeria. I think the reporter says it should break by Saturday. I'll withhold judgement until then.

Drawing a parallel to Ohio State reduces the significance of this situation, but in both cases it was made far worse by denials and an attempt ot contain. Those in charge should blow ti wide open at the very beginning.
