Draws aren't out yet, so I'll just start with a pretty picture.

Even prettier pictures:

Kournikova v. Hingis -- 1997 Wimbledon Semifinal

Kournikova was (I believe) 15 at the time of this match. Watch it as many times as you want and then tell me age of consent of laws in the U.S. aren't silly.

That is a pretty picture. I would love to get a chance to play on a grass court sometime.

I heard through the grapevine that he's somewhere in Arlington County with an oldie but goodie looping in the background.

That makes two of us. I'd be terrible on grass -- my game is much better suited to a soft court, but it would still be fine to try.

I read something in a magazine from a club pro at a resort who said that people would get amped to play on their grass courts, then quit after 20 minutes because the bounce is too low. They opened some grass court complex in the metro Detroit area of all places a few years ago, and I remember thinking it would get paved over in a couple years. Not sure how they're doing.

Anyway, on to SW19. I'm kind of not too hyped for it this year since RG was so interesting and it looks like more Djokovic/Murray dominance. I guess the one cool thing if Novak wins is that the summertime would be full of calendar grand slam talk and the sport would receive a lot of coverage. Other than that, with Rafa out and Fed in decline, I can't think of much that excites me about this tournament other than maybe Nick Kyrgios is the hero we need.

It requires way better shotmaking chops .

To be clear, I haven't played on grass so I don't really know, but it seems that it would require better shotmaking chops.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and take the field over Novak. I don't know who it's gonna be, but I think we'll see a new champ, or possibly just a new old champ.

I think Murray wins this. Federer looks like he's lost some after this latest injury and he's not getting any younger. Murray always has done well on grass and I could see Djokovic dropping this one and coming back to win the US Open for another 3 slam year. Thiem seems to have some momentum as well among the youngsters and on this surface Raonic is always a long shot.

I would have agreed with you until the Sharapova thing, which shows they don't play favorites. Aren't they using WADA? What else can they do?

It's funny because he was never in those conversations, but you look at how good he was last year at 33/34 or whatever, and it makes you wonder.

I think there's a decent chance of this as well.

I will be shocked if Djokovic doesn't slice through the field like butter. When he doesn't win right now it's a fluke. He is resting coming out of RG, where he wasn't greatly taxed. He is that much better than anyone else right now. I think if he has a potential achilles heel in this tournament, it is to one of the few remaining serve bots, particularly Kevin Anderson - we all remember their epic 5 setter last year - and who knows if he will even be in Nole's section of the draw.

Draw is out.

Murray/Kyrgios 4th round caught my eye.

Wawrinka gets Fritz in the 1st and then Del Potro. I can see Del Potro making the quarters.
