He throws a few drop shots in here and there, but definitely needs more of a basic slice. Props to him for being able to mash it out there for five hours. I think Rafa will handle Delpo in four. Delpo is hitting a solid drive backhand now, but still not able to crack it enough to beat Rafa. Rafa will work him over with the slice, too.
I'm dying at the O-T thread on this broad. Of course, the internet creeps have figured out this chick is an instagram queen or something. The internet is a scary place.

So the US Open is now almost the French Open. After last night I'm convinced of that.

Or perhaps just one thing - that Rafa Nadal might just be the mentally toughest athlete ever to step between the lines in any sport. Seriously to beat him you have to pry the racquet from his cold dead hands. Who gets bagled in the first set and comes back to win in 5 like that?
And as much as I like to see Rafa mash, I love the way he moves on the ball and makes volleys. A thing of beauty.

If the US Open courts are slow, I imagine it’s because name brand American players largely wanted it that that way.
Flushing used to run their courts down because Roddick wanted them fast.

What's missing from the top 10 ATP rankings?
Granted Isner is at 11 but I don't think he would want slower courts

People will use Isner as some evidence the courts aren't playing slower, but I actually think he doesn't mind that. His serve is so huge he gets aces, anyway, and high bounces give him time to set up shop. It's the reason he took Rafa to five at RG and Soderling made two finals.

Mike said the courts are playing as slow or slower than clay
It’s just a joke what the ATP and pro tennis has done to neuter the game

Going to get someone killed out there. I love long rallys as much as anyone, but there is no way that can be healthy for the players playing like that in five set matches.

Wow Chilly about to win 10+ more points and lose the match.

Imagine dropping a couple grand for good seats for Novak-Fed QF and getting Millman.
Posted on 9/5/18 at 5:22 pm to bayoucracka
I actually have a little doubt that Fed gave 100% in the 4th set breaker. I think there might have been a part of him that both wanted to just get off the court and also didn't want to get smoked by Novak.

I just put $20 on Millman to win.
Pays out $225.
Do I have a shot?

We will never see another grand slam won by a player with a 1-hand backhand.
I could throw in a bunch of disclaimers, but then it would lose a lot of the boldness. And it's not a dig at any particular player. It's just how I see the game changing.
Thiem's performance this tournament change your opinion at all on this?
