I don't think many expected Cilic to go full melt and cry on the biggest stage of tennis

Not at all. He blew Roger off the court with zero fricks at the US Open a few years ago and should have beaten him here last year.

Not only that, I was just hoping for a more competitive series to begin with. The mental break didn't help at all.

Crazy how federer just waltzed his way to win Wimbledon at his age. The state of mens tennis is not good this year. All the top players are past 30 and nobody else seems to want to step up yet. With djokovic and Murray both having injuries it looks like there is nothing else other than aging fed and nadal and an occasional appearance by wawrinka.

Yeah, last year it looked like Djokovic and Murray would rule the sport for the foreseeable future. Now, they both might not play the rest of the year. At some point, Zverev and Thiem will break through.

Fed wins his 8th Wimbledon title at age 35 without dropping a single set in the tournament.

The quality of men's tennis at the moment is not good. The top players from the younger generation such as Nick Kyrgios who should be competing for slams by now have been a massive disappointment and Djokovic's game is off due to personal issues with his wife. It reminds me a lot of 2001-2003 when a mid-30's Agassi was #1 and winning numerous slams.

i mean i'll give this to fed. when it looked like he was done and would never win another major tourney, he was still routinely making semis and the occasional final. he's kind of putting himself in position to have these years when murray/djok are off at the time

how clutch was skipping the French?

This man really might win 3 slams in one year at this age. Take a bow Roger.
