Amazing ride for Sepp. Only lost a little over a minute to Remco

Needs to get through another punchy climb tomorrow that should suit Remco and Roglic and then absolutely nuke the Tormulet later in the week.

Setting up for a great GC with 6 uphill finishes still to come including two monsters.

It is what the Vuelta does so well. I absolutely hate mountain stages that have a descent into the finish after the last big climb, it almost always neutralizes those really hard-fought gains or worse yet it just prevents riders from trying to get those gains on the slopes to begin with.

Jonas is clearly off the Tour super juice

Form is a finicky old winch. One day you can’t feel the pedals the next you are 20 watts below your threshold and suffering like a dog

Jonas Moves up to 7th today. Primoz stays firm, as does the Durango Kid w 26 seconds still on Soler.
No change in the top 5.
Polka Dots does change riders however.

Great battle for the win but was hoping for more than a gentleman's agreement among the GC guys to keep it easy on the final climb.

Sure the TT took a lot out of them yesterday but Ganna didn't go easy, he absolutely killed it today in the break in a vain effort to get Thomas the win and tomorrow should be a chill sprint day.

Just got back from the hospital but while in there last night I took out the phone and watched Chris Horner's recap of the ITT - good to see Sepp is still in red.

Remco is already a minute off the back. He may not finish the stage.

Jumbo could realistically sweep the podium

This stage is wild. Jonas and Landa are absolutely nuking it off the front with 60Ks to go.

Crazy finish. Sepp cut Jonas' one minute gap in half in a little over a km then Primoz rocketed away to almost catch Sepp.

The queen stage and Jumbo...

All I know is I want some of what is in Jumbo's bidons. Some sort of alien mix of rocket fuel, glucose, and nuclear fusion, it probably hits like Popeye's spinach.

Rewatched tonight in somewhat full.

A) Would be liver dead had I followed my drinking game idea of taking a shot every time he says “Full Cri” on Peacock
2) Didn’t realize Remco was cooked and completely done with the GC race after the first climb. That was brutal
D) The Aliens HAVE to fight for Kuss at this point unless he cracks big, crashes etc, RIGHT? Durango has been the greatest Domestique of all time. He still looks great. Rog looks the strongest of all and could easily win this at this point if he wants to or is the team plan… but goddangit I want Kuss to be the one to break the US grand tour drought.

I was all in for Sepp, then I thought - yeah, it's probably not likely - but I'm back in, Sepp for GC, TJV for all the grand tours and a sweep of this podium. This is dominance.

I've been in cycling both racing and fandom for ~30 years. TJV 2023 is the best team I've ever seen. They just crush the peleton. Remco would have been slaughtered on the Tourmalet had he made it. Unbelievable!
