The Texans asking price for a Watson trade is...

According to a team source, they want 3 first rounders, 3 second rounders, and a Pro Bowl-caliber player.
So basically the exact opposite of what BOB’s trade philosophy was.

IF im the Saints i put an offer on the table of like 2 firsts, and then one of Ramczyk/Davenport/Thomas and just say "thats available".

A top 5 QB is absolutely worth that, but Watson is not a top 5 QB and will be getting $40 million a year starting in 2022.

The way the roster was constructed 2 years ago, I would agree.
As it stands at this moment? No way.
1. Saint are WAY over the cap
2. There's 5 starter/high volume contributors going into free agency this year alone (Hendrickson, Williams, Cook, Rankins, and Anzalone). Going into '22 (Ram, Lattimore, Brown, Smith, Harris, Tuttle, etc)
3. 3 years of top 2 round picks essentially can potentially be:
2016
1. Sheldon Rankins (was becoming an elite DT before his achilles injury)
2. Michael Thomas (top 5 WR) or Vonn Bell
2017
1. Marshon Lattimore (potential top 10 CB) or Ryan Ramczyk (top 5 RT)
2. Marcus Williams (top 10 safety) or Alvin Kamara (top 5 RB)
2018
1. Marcus Davenport (promising DE)
3. Tre'Quan Smith (#3 WR)
Not including a 'pro bowl caliber' player they want.
Continuing to draft that way, you can find a QB somewhere else. Hell it could take a while, but good drafting can carry okay QB play (look at philly and LA Rams). Trading 3 years of top end picks like that as it stands, you'll have issues

Just because you want to give him all the credit for their success and no blame at all for their failures does not make him a top 5 QB.
