Duke and Arizona State face off today in one of the most unique stadiums in the entire country.
CBS has broadcasted this Bowl Game for 57 consecutive years.
The Sun Bowl has featured several Hall of Famers, Heisman winners, and modern NFL stars.
Notable players who have appeared in the game include:
Hall of Famers: Barry Sanders (Oklahoma State), Tony Dorsett (Pitt), Thurman Thomas (Oklahoma State), Derrick Thomas (Alabama), LaDainian Tomlinson (TCU)
Heisman Winners: Carson Palmer (USC), Jayden Daniels (Arizona State).
Other Notable Players: Richard Sherman (Stanford), Trent Williams (Oklahoma), Priest Holmes (Texas), Aaron Jones (UTEP), and Mitchell Trubisky (UNC).
Interestingly, the 1955 game featured future entertainment icon Burt Reynolds and legendary broadcaster Lee Corso, who were teammates at Florida State.

I believe only the Rose Bowl has been around longer.

No its for a local high school. Its an El Paso tradition, they also have a J, C, and E painted on other mountains.

Sun Bowl is great. Everything about this bowl game, every year, it's top notch. CBS production, the stadium with mountain backdrop. Long history .
This is a major bowl.

I recorded the Sun Bowl and Army/Navy just so I can rewatch them this summer.

Entertaining game. This beats the Oregon State 3-0 Sun Bowl win over Pitt.

Was that the most enjoyable game so far for a neutral?
I’m clearly biased but enjoyed that very much.

It was pretty good. So was the Alamo Bowl last night.
There have been a lot of fun bowl games this year. If there is a game on, I'm watching it, and I think it's been a great bowl season.
Don't get the "meaningless" label, at all.

Kicking myself for not going to SA for the Alamo last night, but I went to Houston for the Texas Bowl and came back sick. The only Alamo Bowls I have missed in the last 15 years or so were the three that TCU has won, and they’ve all been great ones.
