I went Saturday with the family. We had fun, but all agreed that we would not go again.
They do a great job keeping everyone entertained. There is constant action and music. We were behind home plate in the lower bowl near the top and it was loud. Really loud at times. They may have been because we were under the overhang of the second deck and the sounds was trapped there. By the end of the game, we were ready to leave.

They used to be able to configure the dome for real baseball dimensions but not since the renovation. Looks like they had a really short porch in left that wouldn’t work for a real baseball game, not sure what the dimensions were.
Can they still use the dome for baseball with regular dimensions? That turf looked like it was not meant for the dome. Figured they just made it fit so they could keep the crowd at full capacity. You really have to love that shite to sit in RF corner.

The As played some exhibitions also
I was there for 1 of them. Only time I got to see McGwire and Canseco play together.

I don't think so. I think the lower bowl seats are fixed after the recent renovations.
Edit. I missed the reply from Owl.

A lot of the phenomenon is horny moms who buy tickets for their kids under the guise that "it's a gift for the kids."

Since the renovations the Dome can’t be configured for a real baseball game. The original design allowed for the stands to be moved to have 315 down the lines, 358-365 in the allies and 421 to dead center.

They added a few more teams this year
1 of the new teams this year is the Indianapolis Clowns... which they brought in as a way to honor the Negro League
The face of the Clowns team is a guy baseball fans may have heard of before... Jackie Bradley, Jr.

I went Sunday. Was given tickets by a friend.
Lots of children, as expected. Personally, I think this is best suited for children and dumb people who are easily entertained.
It was like baseball, with dancing. Think: Baseball: The Musical.. SO frickING MUCH DANCING, and prancing, and posing.
Honestly, I wouldn't bring a little league team to this event as a team and not expect them to all start acting like little queens afterwards. Too fricking much dancing.
And the music was loud, nonsensical, and non stop. Perhaps this wouldn't have been as bad in an outdoor stadium but in the dome, in the lower bowl, the sound was just beating you down, non stop for the entirety of the event without a moment's pause.
Again, if I was a coach or mentor, I'd be wary to bring kids to this. I expected to see more trick plays and show boating, and there was one cool incident where an outfielder did a backflip before catching a fly ball.. instead it was dudes dancing around like a bunch of SUPER HAPPY DUDES for 3 hours.
Finally, the "banana rules" while interesting, put things in a position of "walking" a batter becomes the most important play of the game, especially with a baserunner already on second base. I think most of the runs scored on Sunday were the result of a "walk/sprint" with a baserunner on 2nd base that scored everytime this happened. Kinda dumn, but fitting for this audience.

yeah the original was deep as shite to CF.
there was a proposed hypothetical configuration (before deciding to do away with baseball all together) that would have been pretty cool

What are you supposed to rub on your injuries??
The rubber pellets that hold down the turf and add in padding.
I remember walking on the Nicholls Field and the Superdome field for some events and would be pulling out those pellets days after the event.
