They made the playoffs last year. By definition, they do t suck. The problem is they are in a division with the best team in baseball. So they will have a tough time getting to a WS, but they won't suck.

Just be happy they went back with the brown and gold color scheme. Just about every baseball team uses blue and white it seems

Seriously.
Good for the Padres though. I watched every one of their games last season bc they were usually on after the Braves finished. They were fun to watch.
Sure they could possibly be the 2nd best team in the NL and still not even win their division, but people always complain about teams in MLB being cheap and not spending money to try and win.
They made the playoffs last year and won a series. They have one of the brightest young stars in the game right now, and have invested big money prior to this offseason on guys like Manny, Hos, etc...
It may end up not working out, or the contracts may eventually catch up to them, but good for them seeing their window and doing everything they can to take advantage of it.
