@seankjensen: Former #Jaguars CB Derek Cox will sign a 4-year deal with the #Chargers, according to a league source.

Cox was a Buccaneers target. I think we are down to the Bucs getting Revis or Smith.

Bucs GM doesn't want to give the 13th pick, the Jets want it.

Landry’s deal, we’re told, is a real $6 million annual contract, with no fluff or back-end filler. He’ll make $18 million over three, and of the $14 million in guaranteed money a whopping $11 million of it is fully guaranteed.
So let’s all get a little sleep.

Jets would be smarter to take the 2014 1st rounder the Buccaneers are offering.
more than likely a better QB class next year

You are giving them a lot of credit. They aren't smart.

And they Jets' will probably be in a situation to draft one with their own 1st in '14. The Bucs, who are presently in a better situation, would give them a later 1st pick, lowering the overall value of the 1st. Unless you think the Bucs are gonna suck of course.
With the 13th, they have some versatility to stockpile picks. They can trade 9 and pick up compensation for both years. They need to fill in several spots, so it may be better.
Top 15 pick is better than a top 20-25 pick.

Yeah great point. I thought the same thing. The 2014 TB first rounder should have far less value. I'd imagine Buca will be at least a .500 team or even better.
That scenario would give the Jets a pick in the 20s next year instead of 13 this year

Depending on how it plays out, NY could be sitting at 9 with the preferred passrusher gone, but a top OT still there. Some team is in love with said prospect, and trades '13 and possibly '14 compensation to move up.
Then they'll have 13 to select someone they looked at a 9, but passed over for the trade.
If the Jets are bad in '13, they'll have a new HC picking a QB early. If they do good enough, they've found something that has led to a certain amount of success and QB slightly moves down in priority. Still probably the top need, but down in urgency.
