I find it interesting how Jonathan Taylor is demanding a trade and more money, but by doing so is only solidifying the reason why NFL teams view tailbacks as worthless

I can think of RB’s who are worth the money. The first one that comes to mind is Derrick Henry and even he can only take you so far.

If they want to blame anybody Le’Veon Bell started this, not NFL teams. Why deal with the headache when you can draft a tailback in the 3rd round who will STFU and produce on a rookie contract

Your money is always 100% worth more spent elsewhere. Once your RB is off his rookie contract, let him walk if he wants high dollar

An undrafted scrub like Deon Jackson can probably get you 95% of Taylor’s production. Put an undrafted scrub at LT and your QB might be out for the year.

Perfect example is LeVeon Bell.

Steelers total rushing yards in 2017 with Bell - 1,667

Steelers total rushing yards in 2018 without Bell - 1,538

Is 129 yards worth consuming an additional $17 million a year in roster space?

When he missed 9 games in 2021, the Titans went 6-3 and averaged 140 rushing yards per game with D'Onta Foreman and Dontrelle Hilliard replacing him. They combined to get paid about $1M that season compared to Henry's $10M.

Mike Shanahan killed the RB market when he showed that with a good blocking scheme, it doesn't matter who is in the backfield.

The market is the market and these athletes are finally realizing it. You notice how several high end athletes kids are now playing baseball? They figured out where the money is. It’s starting to trickle to high school where the best athletes are now moving away from football for baseball or hoops.

Sounds exactly like the Colts last year

Money and physical quality of life after the game make it a no-brainer to stay away from football if you have better options. Sucks for the sport, but I can’t fault the athletes.

Murray is a QB. I thought this thread was about RB’s?

Very simple. Don’t give second contracts to RB

If Taylor isn't worth paying, why did the Colts insist on such a high price in trade negotiations? They want to keep him but don't want to pay him. Doesn't seem right

Because they aren't just going to give him what he wants. I think teams in the NFL and the NBA are sick of the players trying to dictate terms and are trying to take back some control.

Then just cut him. he's going to miss the first 4 games and then walk after the season and you get nothing. You think he's worth a 1st rd pick or even jaylen waddle but you let him walk? Does not compute.

He’s an asset that they franchise tagged. They can’t cut him and not pay him. And they’ll do the exact same thing next year.

I’m sorry you are correct. He’s just a normal holdout. They would franchise him next year in order not to lose the asset for nothing.

Why do all the mock drafts have the cardinals taking Williams when they’ve already paid Kyler all that money? I don’t get that part. Would they try to trade Kyler? Hes not a super star but you can win with him I believe.
