They didn’t make the NBA because they were smart

The Lakers players gambled on games? The Sacramento Kings will need to be severely punished for these transgressions.

two players for Cleveland in the MLB got tens of thousands of dollars for illegal betting. One has a 6+ million dollar salary.

"They would never do such a foolish thing, think about all they had to lose!"

That's a great argument if you've never paid attention to anything that's ever happened ever.

These responses are so lame

Lebron is a literal spokesman for DraftKings. His commercials with Kevin Hart were all over the place.

Yeah, team is so fricked there aren’t assets to lose and most players who could get suspended would likely get hurt anyway.

Blackmail or other external threats are possible factors as well. It’s not always about a bump in money.

Leadership needs to be decapitated for every major U.S. sport. Ownership needs to be hit in the wallet, the hammer needs to drop hard.

Money is relative when you’re living check to check. Forget the taxes and agents they have to pay, when you’re throwing bands in the strip club, have 3 or 4 baby mommas and giving handouts to your leeching family members, that money doesn’t last

yeah. every rich person I've ever ran into was like "you know what, I've got enough money, no reason for me to engage in any stock market inside trading"

I suspect we'll find that a lot of the illegal gambling issues stem from prop bets.

Personally, I feel that legalized sports betting will be bad for sports over the long run. I also feel that NIL is not good for sports, though there good be adjustments (e.g. contracts that do not allow a player to change teams without financial penalties).
