Grambling and Southern couldnt even win the SWAC in the NCAA small college division but you think they were better than undefeated LSU in the university division.

its a f'ed up metric.....and there would be hundreds of schools on this list with only a small number of them being HBCUs.

I’m a big NSU Demon fan. Makes much more sense for us to play at LSU/aTm than to host a D2/FCS school. Much more money and exposure and more beneficial to our schools.

On the off chance we pull the upset, NSU knocked off TCU in 2001, then even better.

I'm reading the comments and I have to agree with most of what has been said. I went to a magnet high school in BR some decades ago and everyone I know who graduated from SU their college age kids either didn't go there or they aren't going there. SU is on its last leg but that leg will likely remain propped up by political correctness and state funding. The Civil Rights Movement for the most part has worked and we are pretty much integrated. Therefore, SU has to compete with every other college and university in the marketplace and they cannot. SU football reflects this. SU and its athletics programs haven't adjusted to integration.

The simple fact that Grambling has as many if not more NFL Hall of Famers as alums as LSU lets you know in the 50s and 60s they likely would have held their own if not beat LSU.

HBCUs served an extremely important purpose. Thankfully the need for them has pretty much been eradicated. That's a very good sign societally.

So far 5 downvotes
Truly amazes me these days that people hate proven facts instead of perceived feelings. You, yet again, make a great and historically factual statement.
Hope you are well

I honestly think that in my lifetime I will see the closure of the doors of many HBCUs. Don't get me wrong, there are some quality schools out there. But the issue is is that for the high quality black high school seniors, they are now choosing to go to the best possible school they can get accepted. Some will go to a Morehouse, Howard, and some of the other good HBCUs. But for the mostpart, they aren't worrying about going to an HBCU, but doing the best for their future. So that leaves the rest of the HBCUs literally accepting anyone and everyone. Thus, a lower pool of students. Back in the day, even after integration thousands and thousands of black students chose HBCUs simple because going to a primarily white school was entirely too racist at that time. No one wants to endure racism while trying to better yourself with an education. Now, that concern is no longer valid.

I say all this as a black guy who's almost entire family either went to Grambling or Southern.

I agree with you. Honestly we may even have too many HBCUs today. Some like Wilberforce and Lincoln are barely hanging on.

How many Louisiana lawyers got their degrees from southern? I was told by one that it was the same degree and cheaper than LSU. I’m not a lawyer and have no idea the difficulty between the 2.

If BRCC ever gets football and puts more of an investment in basketball it will really put SU sports in a bad spot. I already know legacy SU kids with good grades coming out of high school who have chosen to attend BRCC over SU. Plus, Southeastern, Northwestern, ULL, ULM, McNeese and Grambling (yes, Grambling) all are ran better than SU and have more/better student amenities than SU. SU needs to merge with another state university. But, that won't happen.

SUNO should have shutdown damn near a decade ago.

There was a plan a few years ago to shut it down and merge with UNO. Unfortunately, the powers that be would have noon of it.

I remember when that was going on and SUNO’s graduation rate was something absurdly low like 5%, the president comments graduating students isn’t their goal.....WAT
