The owner wanted a new stadium, Dallas said no and she got pissed. Now she’s tanking to move the team to San Antonio.
Yes, after the Spurs move to Austin.

Luka is a Top 3 player in the NBA.
You are stating this as fact and then basing the rest of your argument on this "fact".

GM's frequently do obviously dumb things. The Browns gave Deshaun Watson the farm, Embiid got a huge extension that doesn't even start until 26-27, the Colts bet their future on Anthony Richardson, etc, etc....
as dumb as the moves you listed are, they still aren’t even in the same ballpark as the Luka trade. not even close

would david stern nix this deal, or allow it, to get luka to LA?

Yeah, I meant Las Vegas….had San Antonio on my mind for something else

Your examples aren’t even close. There were about 4-5 teams trying to sign Watson to similar deals. Anthony Richardson had a first round draft grade.
There isn’t a single NBA GM that’s traded a top 5 player like Luka in a similar circumstance.

Even if the Mavs wanted to trade him thinking he wouldn't resign or whatever- they could have gotten FAR more in return than what they did
You don't say.
Trading him is fine. Getting what you did in return is just laughable.
For RUDY GOBERT, the Jazz got...
• Malik Beasley
• Patrick Beverley
• Leandro Bolmaro
• Walker Kessler (No. 22 pick in 2022 Draft)
• Jarred Vanderbilt
• 2023 first-round pick
• 2025 first-round pick
• 2026 pick swap
• 2027 first-round pick
• 2029 first-round pick

I don’t think Stern would’ve had the power to stop it considering Dallas has an owner….err I mean governor.
Only reason he stopped the cp3 trade was because he was an acting owner for the NO Hornets franchise at that time.

The answer is that Luka has missed significant stretches of the past few years with injuries and he also has been lackluster from a conditioning standpoint.
The trade might have lit a fire under him right now but that fire won’t be there long term and he’ll revert back to his old ways.
Dallas didn’t want to pay him max money and tank the franchise for a guy they didn’t expect to put in the work.
He’s also awful defensively in the playoffs. Boston hunted him most possessions and scored easily on him.

The more i look at it OJ being found not guilty makes no sense.
Its the worst trade in NBA history.
